I've had this unit for many years but never really had a use for the pitch shifter until now. My band is doing Ratt's "Round and Round" and I'm trying to set it to get a reasable approximation of the harmony piece that makes up the second half of the solo. So far, no dice...I just don't care for anything that I'm coming up with. Any guidance from the "pitch shifters" here would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Intellifex only does chromatic harmonies. It won't work.

You need an intelligent pitch shifter that does diatonic harmonies. You have a good handful of choices.

Digitech IPS-33B
Digitech DHP33
Digitech DHP55
Rocktron Intellipitch
TC Electronic G Force
Eventide Eclipse
Eventide anything from the 3000/3500/4000/5000/8000 series of stuff
Boss super shifter will work too.

Beat me to it.
The "fex' just does set intervals. It won't diatonically follow the key signature.
I use a DHP-55 for this and it's great. The poor man's eventide

Thanks, I'm aware of the limitations, but there has to be a certain interval that will let me approximate it, no?

no.

The problem is it will only do one set interval. It cannot do intelligent pitchshifting. That is why I got rid of mine.

I'm thinking that I may just set it to do a 5th above...not correct but sounds cool enough that only the guitarists and die hard Ratt fans will most likely take notice. I just don't want to buy a new piece of gear that will see very limited use.

Or just play the higher part by yourself with no harmony...I think it would sound better than a set interval. The only thing I've found the pitch shifting in the Intellifex good for is octave stuff, and the minor harmony run in "Changes" by Yes....which is the only reason I still have it in my rack...cause my band refuses to drop that song.
