I picked up a pair of axes the month, my favorite mid-eighties Carvin Dc200's my 3rd and 4th of the same model. My original two both have EMG sets 81/60-81/85's. But I thought since I don't use or mind the stock neck pickups much it may be easier this time
to just swap out the bridges.

I won two eBay auctions today coincidentally.. Dimarzio Diminion and Dimarzio Crunch Lab.

I'm hoping to wire them right in like the old bridges with the coil-split intact..

Any thoughts on the selections,
I've heard nothing but good things about both.

I both love and hate the pickup chase, but my go to is always the JB/'59 combo. When I have a backup to my les Paul, it's a rotating, never ending trial and error. I always leave my main guitar alone.

I have the Dominion set and it freakin rocks!! I had it in a 2004 LP studio, the heavy model before they started chambering the body, and it can go from classic rock>hard rock>to balls out modern metal with ease. It is a relatively dry metal sound and feel though; border line too stiff feeling for my taste by I get by with it.

I pulled it from the LP and put it in my all walnut neck through floyd bridge Carvin ST300C and again it rocked in that guitar. I got a Painkiller in the bridge of that now, so the Dominion's going back in the LP.

All and all I'd say I like the Dominions a lot. Its lower output allows for some extremely tight articulate yet crunchy saturated metal rhythm tones and some amazing bluesy stuff too. That's the bridge of course. The neck is pretty amazing too, but I'm no lead player. Cleans on the neck are really full, chimey, and just plain gorgeous.

Liked the C-pig I had, but LOVE the Painkiller in there now

Gonna try the Rebel yell or Holy diver here next.

I watched the Keith Merrow SD pickup shoot out and came away thinking I wanted An Custom SH-5, but one of my favorite producers Gene Feeman Aka..(Machine) did a video awhile back raving about the Dominion. If anything I trust his ears. The crunch lab seemed to be a pretty standard pick for alot of folks around here and it was a decent enough deal I figured it wouldnt hurt to try it. BKP seem pretty pricey to me, but who knows... if i end up going further in the hole, it could be a long journey.

There are a few resellers that get bulk pricing once you start looking for the deals. I've always gone direct to Tim in the UK, the price isn't a big deal when you actually get them installed and play them. They're just top-dog pups. Period.
