Under the consent of Mailman1971 I am happy to share this - I hope that some of you can find it interesting.
I developed +tempo, a metronome for iOS that accelerates over time. When learning complex pieces we usually start at a slow, easy tempo and gradually accelerate. This approach requires us to stop, take our hands off the instrument, adjust the speed of the metronome, and start playing again. Also, as you well know, at very high speed even 1 bpm increase feels like a huge step.
This app aims to solve these drawbacks by gradually increasing tempo by an imperceptible amount, beat by beat. Just set an initial BPM you are comfortable with, your target BPM, and the total time of the training session. The metronome will linearly increase its speed over the period of the training session.
Some technical stuff:
- it is native for the iPhone, but it works on the iPad too. An iPad native version is on the radar, an Android version not yet
- range of tempo: 40 - 270 BPM
- it works in the background so you can use the app while using other audio apps AmpliTube, JamUp, ecc, reading scores, or keeping the screen locked
- several customisations available as in-app purchase
