Is a UA Apollo overkill if I’m recording using a Captor X ?

Going to try to start to get some decent recordings of some of my gear. Wondering if a “budget” interface would be sufficient….something like a Scarlet or if I’d have better results with the Apollo. And if I’d buy an Apollo used if the software/firmware can be downloaded/registered more than once? MacBook would be the laptop I’m using.

Apollo line are very nice professional level units. However, if you’re just trying to lay down some tracks as a hobby, something like a Scarlett would be more than fine for great results. You won’t notice hardly any difference between the two as a novice. 2 ins and 4 outs would be ideal so you can maybe later down the road experiment with reamping if you decide to.

How much do you want to spend?
Go with something Rack if you have other other pieces Rack in your Studio..
