Are there a LOT of Axe-IIs currently for sale??

I mean, I sold mine a couple weeks back, solid cat to do biz with, straight up, no BS, eTransfer and all the good warm and fuzzy stuff, and at that time I priced mine out to be competitive with what was out there. I have been checking back and maaaaaaaaan, there's a mess of 'em on the FAS site, along with FRFR options galore, and the like.

Another phase passing? :dunno:

Interesting shift nonetheless.
 
I still enjoy my Axe II, and even my Ultra for that matter.
They are great tools.

Are they going to have me selling my Diezel's, Splawn's, Bogner's, Soldano's...not if I can help it.

I mean, things are still evolving with the modelers. Not just the Axe, others as well.
Maybe people have tried them and like you Mo are going back to head/cab, for whatever reason.
I will be keeping mine, I still think they have excellent stuff going on, ongoing upgrades, and offer a lot regardless.

Do I still plug into my heads and a full stack, YEP :rock:

I believe the ones who look at it as a tool are not going anywhere. The ones who are trying to replace amplifiers all together are finding indifferences and/or not getting what they want out of it.

Different people purchase for different reasons. If I could justify the cost I'd have one around for a smaller B rig.
 
Not just a practice tool but a tool in general. Just like regular amplifiers. microphones. pre-amps. Monitors. A tool that has a sound and a purpose - not the end all be all replace all. Those who say it does are subjectively saying so based on their own needs or opinions.

But I cannot get over the price of them - they are not cheap. I would not be able to justify the cost unless I had a solid income flowing from music again, production, recording, or albums out.

what do you mean? Its a great practice tool? i just jammed over ac dc backing tracks with it for an hour!

The Axe II as a tool can easily replace an amplifier. People just flip them as they would with any other amp, in the quest for perfect tone.
 
I bet the Two Notes stuff is starting to get a foothold. If you're happy with your amps already, it's a great alternative to going full modeling.

This is definitely part of it, believe it or not. I've come to realize I'd pefer to use a couple amps (or a small handful) fully and completely, rather than have 180 or so at my digital disposal.

TwoNotes has taken the lead in my interests and attention over the Fractal stuff. I'll see how it all evolves in the next year or so.

yeah, I'm the same way. I have several amps that I like a lot, and still don't have time to fully utilize all of them. I was originally interested in the Kemper or Axe, but the Live was exactly what I was looking for. I wouldn't use a fraction of the fx in the axe, and as good as the modeling sounds in the Kemper, I feel like I would be limited to how the amp was dialed and the quality of the profile.
 
Just thought of something. Why judge phases by what's for sale in the gear forums? And why bother getting caught up in what's "in" and what's "out".

Ventura, you're getting a Shiva 20th right? Have you noticed there's always some for sale in the forums here, what does that mean? Are you jumping on a sinking ship or do you want an amp that you simply want to use?
 
I agree with a lot of what has been said.

I am sure people get them, get overwhelmed with choices and go back to "easy."
I LOVE that the Axe gives me an option for silent jamming...with family/kids and all.

I agree that ALL gear starts getting flipped...Friedman's seemed to be everywhere for a bit and I was asking myself the same question then.
Maybe as Danyeo mentions above, just grab a good deal on something you want to try out.

That's how I got my first Diezel, bought used and never looked back.
Trading and buying used gives us the opportunity to try things we might not otherwise get to try out.

Some seem to be base their purchase decisions on what's popular on a forum at any given time (not singling out Ventura). :lol: :LOL:

But I agree, whatever gear is "trending" on a forum at any given moment is just a reflection of who's typing the most posts about it from the user base and/or being promoted by business interests.
 
I've been wanting an Axe off and on for a while but my intent is pure studio use. If the effects on it are as great as people say they are, (I've read/heard mixed reviews) I'd love to use it as a rack unit and bypass the whole amp modeling bit.

I've never even met a person in my day to day life that owns one. Come to think of it, most of the booteek gear and higher end products are isolated to a few individuals. The only high end piece of equipment that I've taken a chance on was sending my amp to Friedman a year ago. Came back bitchin' and I'm happy.
 
so out of the hundreds of thousands sold you se 15 for sale on fractals site and think its a lot...hmmm
 
I was impressed with it, more than I thought I would be. But I struggled to justify keeping it at the cost.

I gig and use amps and have a POd HD for everything else. I'm not going to tell you the Pod sounds better, it doesn't, but as a practice tool it does the job just fine.

I did gig the Axe a couple of times. I got bored with getting buried by my other guitarist's tube amp and getting told by the axe cork sniffer brigade that I am obviously ill equipped to operate such a device and am clearly inadequate in every way. I think that was the biggest reason I was happy to pass it on. The dickheads that leap on you aRe just way too numerous and overbearing.

I use a TSL100 and a Peavey 6505 and a bunch of pedals. I don't see any reason to fuck with any of it, I love my gear.
