Is it OK to use a 12at7 in PI of BE100

I have some old super 7 12at7s from they late 80s, early 90s.. the Chinese with the square dimpled getter, and wanted to know how the amp would react... AC/DC-ish or not.... well.... NOT! :aww: .. no matter where I put the gain or volume, I didn't like it... Thought I would give it a try.

It will put a blanket on the amp in the PI. If you want to tame an amp down, try the 5751 in one of the gain stages (as long as it isn't a cathode follower). those JJ ECC803's work well too.

Thanks! A blanket is a perfect description of what happened.. UGH! I was trying to get more thump with less gain.. if that makes sense. Wanted a tighter bottom.. I guess you could say.. With my gain past 3 oclock, on BE channel, it gets too saturated, and flubby, even with my bass around 9 to 10 o'clock (with 12ax7). I will give the ECC803 a shot!
