is it worth upgrading from a Friedman Runt?

So with the runt the gain and strong mids put me off for a long time so was using a kemper alot, the hbe from the be deluxe. But with a quality pedal to push the front end and a mxr eq in the loop its sounding better then any friedman profile i have. So now that the runt sounds great is it really worth getting the big brother or look to other amps ir mesa mark v or vh4? would the be deluxe just be more of the same?

The Runts are really bright while the BE line are more in the darker/smoother kind of tone, but the BE100 Deluxe has so many tonal options you can make it sound whatever you want, really.

Agreed. Ultimately that's why I moved on from mine- it's really cool amp that excelled at the aggressive JCM 800 vibe, but I wanted more tone shaping options.

If you really like what you have now, just leave it be and get something different. Unless you need more horsepower that is.

You looking for more channels? More watts? A different tone?

was just looking for a single good high gain channel, Not having a deep/low res is a one factor missing in the runt. But i was really surprised how effect having an eq in the loop was to correct alot of this little amps shortfalls.
Thanks for all the feedback,

I recently switched from a Runt 50 to a Smallbox. It’s like night and day. Smallbox is everything I wanted the Runt to be. I figured pedals with the Runt would get me where I wanted to be but it wasn’t the case.

If you’re looking for 1 good high gain channel I would pass on the mark v and get a mark iii
