Is it me or is he the weak link at a lot of his current shows? Band is tight, hell even the singer is decent but dough boy's timing is horrible, doesn't bother playing rythm a lot of the time , and is busy spinning around is guitar and doing dive bombs and hammer ons not realizing how that throws everyone else's performances. This guy is shit now, sorry to say it folks. He's sloppy by his own standards and there is no coming back from it. His tone is also horrendous. If you are sick of playing your own tunes than don't play them live. Maybe he needs thicker strings to slow him down a bit. Seems like he is rushing to get to the end of the show ....and collect his paycheque.

I don't agree with "no way back from it", we've seen him come back from lots of bad stuff and kick ass....Maybe he has something going on in his life, who knows.....a lot of guys are not representing the way they did and as huge fan it makes me sad. For as much great playing and music he's given us over the years and as much as he's inspired me and the guitar world I'm not so quick to write him off.....few have been as rock and roll, and at the top of their game as long as him. I agree about the tone..... I haven't liked it as much since he switched to Duncans.....It would be awesome to see him in a super group(lots of guys doing this as of late)and get a fire under his ass again.....yjm, vitalij kuprij, Virgil donati, jeff scott soto return.....he's done this before and gets inspired again though maybe not to this extent. I'll always be a fan and buy his records.

Agree, he's too much posing and making noise instead of playing especially at Rising Force. Seems like he doesn't care for what the band is doing which gives some timing "inconsistencies". Also don't get used to a singing keyboarder or keyboard playing singer. Actually he is doing a great job on both tasks, but that's not how a rock band should look like.

Don't agree on the sound though. I like his guitar sound.

Nevertheless, too bad what became out him. He was great back in the days. :-( Still hoping he comes to mind, but I'm not too optimistic to be honest.

Back in the days when his first album came out i was a big Malmsteen fan. Liked and still like his first album a lot. Marching out and overture 1383 are fine instrumentals too. Thought the Odyssey album with JLT was ok too. He had some viable stuff after that too and still is a monster player but from a musical point of view he is nothing more than a relic. Listened to his latest "music" on Spotify for some weeks ago. With all due respect... that stuff sucks majorly. From a musical point of view it is not even worth discussing here and the production/sound on the CD was BAD. And his runs: Well if you have listened to his first albums there isn`t really anything new.
No doubt that Malmsteen was majorly gifted playing the stuff he did at an age of 16. But i find he didn`t develop forward but constantly and lately exponentially backwards. I feel a little sorry for him since it seems he didn`t find peace despite of his fantastic career.
That said ripping of some of his best stuff on the guitar is a blast. There isn`t a lot stuff on the guitar that is as fun to play as is the early Malmsteen stuff when you have the chops to play it.

People go to see Yngwie Malmsteen not the Yngwie Malmsteen Band.

I've seen him two times and agree that looks like a fool when he does the leg kicks and throws his guitar around his back. I'll bet everyone working the tour is just afraid to tell him.

Hmm, a lot of people like to say that he hasn't surpassed his first 3 solo records technique wise but I disagree....I quite liked the metal/aor thing he had going on in the eclipse/fire and ice era......fire and ice had some of his best playing and the songs were awesome....some of his best instrumentals on there....another standout era was the facing the animal, live 98, alchemy era.....facing was a great album song and playing wise and alchemy had some of his best chops to date.....I think where, imo he went wrong is when he tried to go too heavy after that....He kinda goes through eras of better stuff...

Imo he needs to form a new group with a dedicated singer, hit the woodshed and get back his sound and quit trying to be so heavy sound/tonewise.....

Wow that was bad even with forwards time to time.
Man Yngwie can play so tastefully and with amazing phrasing, but this was wiggling wank city unleashed.

Thanks   , I always used the terms record and album interchangeably....Actually I do still buy vinyl and have a big vinyl collection.. Actually vinyl is getting pretty big again....artists new and old are releasing albums on vinyl as well as cd, downloads. Went to hastings the other day and was blown away by how much new vinyl was there. What's crazy it's not just us older fuckers buying them it's kids too.
If I like something enough I'll buy it in multiple formats......Physical copies, cds and beautiful vinyl albums are where it's at for me.

He's been phoning it in for years. He doesn't have the hunger for the guitar like he once did & he's just resting on his laurels & half assing it. If you listen to the 1st Alcatraz & Rising Force albums & then listen to him now, the current Yngwie sounds like a bad copy cat version of his former self.

Yeah, last time I saw him with Ripper Owens a few years ago, it just wasn't the same. Guitar was piercing load and drowned out the whole band. Everything's just all off the top of his head. I know he's out to put on a show, but this sort of thing gets hard to listen to and watch, I didn't get 3 minutes into that video...

Wow, maybe a bad night but yeah that was pretty off for the opener, sloppy and unfocused.

Yngwie will always be the master. One of the very best ever.

Wow that was painfull. Maybe he had a few too many drinks before that gig.

he would have sounded better if he just had one more marshall head and cab in that set up
