Is my 2x12 cab 32 ohm?

When I got the cab (lopo), it came stock with x2 16 ohm celestion vintage 30's.

Would it be possible to switch those out for a pair of Eminence Legend v12 8ohm (I don't think they make 16 ohm)? Look for used v1216?

Sorry if this has been done to death, I've never switched speakers.

Most likely 8 ohms. I don't know any tube amps with 32 ohms outputs.

If you get 2 8 ohms speakers, you can wire it for 16 or 4 ohms. Depending on the amp, and if you're ever going to pair your cab with a 1960 Marshall, 16 ohms is possibly your best bet. It's easy to rewire it, though. You're not comitting to anything :)

Series is the total ohms of the speakers. Paralell is total of the speakers, divided by number of speakers.

It's is a handy calculator and explanation of what to do and why.

It is easy. Get a cheap soldering gun. It is easy to undo and resolder if you change your mind.

Plus you can go to Lowes and buy tools..

16 ohm V12 Legends can be purchased direct from Soldano...

Thanks for the calculator. Looks like I'll be able to get the v12's to work with my xxx.

Whenever I try to solder, the house smells like bacon and my hands end up bandaged...

Yeah, I have four of them from out of my Krank 4x12. I'll be hanging on to those suckers.
Krank sold them direct too, but apparently the company has folded.

Put something over your speaker cones when soldering so they don't get damaged by stray solder drips.

I just saw this>

"Parallel is total (ohmage) of the speakers, divided by number of speakers."

Not exactly - parallel is to ohmage of one (of a pair of identical ohmage speakers) divided by two.

In other words: an 8ohm parallel connected to another 8ohm = 4 ohms total.
