I recently bought this Tokai EVH mutt with a new USACG neck and the Floyd looks like it is mounted crooked. Check out these two pics and tell me if this is an issue.

something is certainly wrong. it could also be a combo of it being a bit crooked and the pickup being a bit crooked making things look a lot crooked. if you unscrew the hum ring are the 4 holes evenly spaced around the route or are they way off and not evenly spaced around the route? that will help determine how off the floyd is.

the posts are not perfectly in line, no.

measure from the neck plate to the posts, and you should get EXACTLY 25.5"

if both sides are 25.5" to the center of the posts, then the pickup is not mounted or carved correctly.

but the back of the guitar makes the floyd look non-symetrical. i would bet the posts are off.

that would drive me crazy. i would take the floyd posts out, drill the holes, get the wood glue out and re-fill it, and drill drill-press new posts in the correct positions.

as far as problems - you would have tuning problems if the floyd is floating. however it looks like a stop-floyd setup, so i dont think it will matter in your case.

however, i would still fix it if it were mine IMHO.

I know you didn't mean from the neck plate, you mean from the nut. And are the Floyd posts supposed to be at 25.5" from the nut or are the saddles at 25.5" from the nut?

the center of the floyd pivot posts should be 25" from the back edge of the nut. not 25.5".

yeah i have no idea why i said neck plate, i meant the front of the nut. who knows.

and yes on the 25". regardless - measure it and that will let you know if the posts are off.

Don't worry- You should be able to move the individual saddles to make things perfect!
If you can't do it to perfect intonation, take it to a Guitar tech.

Keith

If the guitar is older the wood surrounding the post could have gave out thus allowing the post to move forward. This happened to me on a Jem555, Kramer American Pacer, and MIM Strat. Loosen the strings and pull the bridge off the posts and look. It is possible you could have wear on the bridge/post too.

Based on the location of the saddles I'd say that it's probably crooked. Doesn't look like you've got any room left for intonation at all.

Hey this was my first post. Wow. Guess I was keeping quiet until something really important came up.

Looks like the pickup to me, the rear cavity shot looks fine to me and also the strings aren't crossing the PU pole pieces at the same point on the screw and slug coils. Resetting the pickup ring is far less invasive than replacing trem studs.

Yeah, looks like the pickup to me, too.

I measured from the nut to the bridge stud and it comes out even on each side. I check the pickup ring and it was mounted crooked. So I remounted the pup ring and all is good. Thanks for the help guys.

i had a feeling it might be that. glad it was a simple fix.
