in V1 and and a 12ax7in V2 of the EL84 channel of the amp?

I've heard of amps with a Ef86 in a separate channel.

It has a 5879 in V1 and a 5751 in V2, and the tone is so broad flexible and amazing from crystalline clean to super crunch. I like the cleans on this channel better than the Barcelona I use to own. What amp is he modeling this channel after?

I really like the 6v6 channel also, but I'm considering swapping the 12 ax7s for a 12 ay7 in V1 and a 12at7 in V2. Will I lose volume if I do?

A lot of retailers are listing the incorrect specs on their site. I checked my tubes in the combo and it is up to spec with the website.

might just want to email Charley @ Bogner, he'll respond pretty fast.

Mephisto is a great looking and sounding amp

On other forums, I've heard that this is not the only amp with this tube complement but research shows that those others actually have a slightly different complement as factory stock. They either have a EF86 in V1 or a 12ax7 in V2 or 6v6s as opposed to EL84s.

Charley's a cool cat.

He's told me that I can switch preamp tubes w/ no worries about rebias, but no mention of potential volume loss.

I'm in no rush to swap tubes as I do like to summon those growly blues leads and fuzzy crunch tones from the 6v6 channel for my recording experiments. My friend has been bugging me to join him playing more jazz gigs in a bit and this channel on black face mode will likely be my go to channel for vamps. While I can't imagine a smoother tone, I'd be excited to see what sounds I could get out of a tube swap.

I'm wondering who is going to pick up the head I'm auctioning, and see if they join the exclusive Mephisto club w/ feedback and comments. I'm starting to feel lonely being the only one talking about it.

Well, based off my experience with the Mephisto. I really think Bogner might do well to replicate the Pentode EL 84 circuit w/ another Metropolitan series amp. It sounds so good, it's almost worth the cost of the 'Phisto alone.

I definitely think it sounds better than the Lafayette, which seems to be based off the design of Peavey EL84 amps.

If anyone needs some great NOS ef86's cheap pm me. I think they are Valvo and Amperex. Never used. I tested them in a Vox Heritage for microphonics and they were perfect.
