Im considering picking one up to run through my ADA MP-1. Does anyone have any experiences with it? Can I run a 16ohm cab through it? Any feedback is appreciated.
figured someone would have chimed in - i didnt want to be the first to stick my neck out.
there are peavey amplifiers i have seen that need so much work its unbelievable. usually the old tank's/old school heavy gauge chassis amplifiers have great components inside of them - they didnt skimp on build quality to get the cost down.
but i will say i see alot of peavey mono's or stereo PA stuff that needs fixing in the shop.
theres a peavey 120/120 in the rig talk classifieds that would fucking kill with an ADA-MP1 preamplifier. 120 tube watts stereo with resonance and presence controls - you can also run it 300 watts tubed mono if you would like. its a stout beast to be reconned with.
if you want to spend less or go solid state, check out the carvin solid state amplifiers. but usually those are left for modeling preamplifiers like the line-6 or axe fx stuff.
ya know what? i picked up one of these at a thrift store took it home, hooked it up to a behringer notch filter, a 411 sonic maximizer and a 4x12 carvin cab wired at 2 ohms, and the thing freakin is a screamer. best sounding, most reliable setup ive ever had. go figure.
