That actually has a very good crunch tone? I'm talking from Led Zep to AC/DC. We all know that Engls are incredible high gain amps but that was were the Savage 120 and Powerball seemed to fall short. Yeah they had a crunch tone but nothing all that great. Invader? SE?
Yup...the INVADER 150....will get you what your looking for.
one of my all time faves!!!
You wont have to leave channel 2......ever!
Just adjust the gain. ;)
I had the 150 and then the 100. Channel two was awesome. Nice thick mids. Really good crunch tone a little more in the Marshall camp.
Only had the 150...
BUT........
Its one of the few amps that is still talked about to this day!!
Channel 2 was legendary........
It was a smoking amp!
I feel a little sick now. I have fond memories.
Me too... :(
What a kick ass amp... :D
one of the many that have really left an impression. ;)

Ch. 3 (or lead lo gain) of the Blackmore is killer. It will most definitely do crunch and it does it well, IMO. Ch. 2 of that amp is possibly the worst channel on any amp I have ever heard, though.

I put my W/D/W rig back together today, finally figured out why it was making that god-awful noise at the amp fest. Looking for the date and time for the next fest bro...the Mills takes it to an entirely different level...

All other Engls that I've played were buzzy, high-gain beasts.

That's why I sold my Engl amp (Fireball). It was great for super high gain, and done clean tones nicely as well. It could do a decent 'semi-grit' clean tone, but I wanted more "bark" out of it and a less modern/more vintage vibe.

The Invader was not fizzy at all. I had four Engls and it was my favorite.

Looks like it will be in the fall time frame after everyone is done taking vacation and I can finally get a Saturday off!
Trust me....you will be notified for sure!

Thats the channel I was mentioning. For whatever reason i never considered suggesting the third channel with a lower gain setting, i mean the amp does have a dedicated crunch channel but like you i thought it blew.

My Engl SE was a killer amp for mid and high gain tones. A bit compressed but great none the less...

Saw a demo of the Engl Gigmaster 30 at Musikmesse. - which did that quite well.

Hopefully it's pure tube front end, sounded like it was in the brief demo.
