Is there any advantage to can capacitors?

Why do Marshalls and the like use can caps? I actually like the way Fender uses Axial caps under the dog house. Not only is it easier to work with, the grounding scheme is better and quieter.

Is there any actual advantage to a can cap?

I imagine they are a bit safer than the doghouse approach in terms of consumer electronics. Less exposed electricity outside of the chassis

No advantage or disadvantage. Strictly designer preference whether to use axial or radial.
