I know Ceriatone are relatively low and have a great reputation

however, are there any cheaper plexi / other old Marshall options?

I've heard some great sounding near-stock late 70's Marshall JMP's.

Might be an option. I'm sure you can find good prices on them.

If you can find an old Traynor YBA-1 they're a plexi circuit more or less. There are a lot of pages for mods on them, but it seems that the most common and effective was to change the volume pot from 4m to 1m.

Bugera has one and I do believe it comes also with the one wire mod you can switch in and out. Pin the circuit and it sounds quite good!

The last nmv Marshall I had was a fawn colored 77 1959 I found for 899 at a Chicago GC. If you're patient you can find an old or RI Marshall under 1k. As far as a real plexi circuit, 67-69 spec you're gonna pay for a clone. Or try the Bugera, cheap enough....
