Marshall 4x12A cab from year 1966! yeah the ones that had pinstripe cloth and handles on the top. The wood and tolex is in great shape, still original tolex.
The cab has been modified tho.. those early cabs usually have handles in the top, but someone put handles on the sides, like a regular 1960A.. what a shame, but it's well made. So essentially it's like a 1968-73 cab.

the cab comes with four CRAPPY Eminence speakers that im just gonna sell, and pop in four Vintage 30 or G12H30 Heritage, that I like.

Grill cloth is new aswell.. with new logos, so it looks like a 1960AHW with rubber feet instead of casters.

Price: 1000,- USD

I figured I could just get this and sell my 1960AHW with the Eminence speakers instead.

Yeah, but thats a whole different prize range. And essentially, all i wanna do is getting a better box for my speakers...

How do you know for sure it's a '66 cab? Basically, you're buying old wood and tolex for $1000 that might be from 1966

Correct.
It has the serial number on a little tag down below on the back.. also this cabinet is atleast pre 67 judging how its constructed. så it might be older than 66....

Basically im asking, if this wood would be an improve to my new AHW 4x12 pile of wood :)

I will leave this to the experts, but if that is indeed the year and the "new" casters on the side are air tight I'd say go for it. i would definitely try to haggle him down to $800

Maybe I should try the expert monopoly over at Metro forum... Not a member tho. Its quite an investment for me, but if it would be as good as a marshall cab could get, id do it.

I'm in it for the sound.. not to show off, and not for sentimental value. It has to be a Marshall cab tho ;)

I mean with so many mods to the cab already non original speakers what is the point of dropping that kind of money on a cab?

I always see deals on old vintage cabs because the sellers usually dont want to deal with shipping, I would just pass on this one and get a real one with less mods later on.

Hmm.. yeah. True.. it's quite modified. But i'd get the sound of a vintage cab tho..

If you can be 100% sure the wood is original I'd say the price is decent. It really comes down to what you want, I do not think you will hear much difference between it and the 1960AHW, especially without the original speakers.

Agreed

He had a 08 1960BHW for 700.. with the IMO pretty good Heritage reissues. Maybe I should get that instead en enjoy the tones of a B cab instead ;)

I agree, i love those Cab's and they already have killer speaker in them. I had one of those and it always sounded like a higher end cab then most other newer Marshall cabs. 700$ is a good price for a BHW. I let mine go for around that price and I regret it.
