Is this Zakk Wylde Epiphone real?

methinks the bullseye graphic is playing some visual trickery making the body appear wider than it actually is.

Looks like real firewood to me.

Wether its a "real" Epiphone or not I don't know.

Looks like a Chinese copy. Look at how round the lower bout is. FAKE!

Why would someone fake an Epiphone version? Talk about a waste of time.

This must be why it is advertised as a "ZW TYPE guitar"

I think the knobs are supposed to line up with the tail, the top of the rhythm vol and bottom of treb vol...you should be able to draw a line from the trail that hits them on tangents. Those don't line up like that.

^^^ this.

You can buy one http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guit...bullseye-les-paul-custom-plus-electric-guitar for $700. Who would fake the Chinese import?

You can most likely buy a used Epi for the same price as a fake....and they would most likely both be sold used anyway since the fake couldn't be passed off as legit with receipt and paperwork.

Just in case it's confusing - I totally agree with you. Is there even a fake new production Epiphone market?

If the guitar is $700 new, there's a market for it in the $4-500 range. If you can build a chinese guitar for $150 there's room for profit.

Since there would be zero logic to make a copy of a new epi version, you seem to imply that there would be profit for copying a used epi, since the used epi market is approx $350. The new market would be sold by respected and trustworthy dealers and would offer warranties and such that would not come with the fakes. Not to mention the fact that the price is way lower than a new one. That said, if their is a profit to be made over a used one...as in your example (and I agree with you, ) why not just copy the Gibson version? The same principle would apply, yet more profit would be available to be had.

I have no idea why not just do the Gibson. I'm just saying if theres profit to be had someone will go for it. Whenever I don't know the answer to something the answer is somehow always money.

Must be one of the hundreds that 357 Customs gave away some years back. <burp>

I hear you, but that is assuming it is fake. Just because a bunch of people on a forum say something is fake doesn't make it so. I personally have no idea in this case, but I was just looking at an old les paul forum where someone asked if a rare Gibson '62 SG reissue in Candy Apple red was fake. Pretty much the whole first page of experts was like..."definitely fake...look that the logo, look at the knobs, look at the jack." "Gibson never made sgs with knobs like that or a jack on the side." I couldn't help but laugh because I have one, it is real, and those features are what make it rare.

In terms of this case, what I don't understand (and it isn't your logic, ) is if they could make say 2x their investment on a fake epi, it would seem that a gibby would make them a lot more. Say it cost them $150 to produce this. What would it cost them to fake the Gibby? $300? The profit would be considerably larger.
