Hi,

So, I've noticed recently that my uberschall sounds siginificantly more open
and breathing without the decimator.

I use the decimator infront of the amp, using the threshold button up to -30, which is kind of exactly in the middle, if I'm setting it on less than that the amp starts to feedback like crazy.

Gain is set to aroud 12-1 o'clock, very reasonable, starts to be really overdrivish kind of tone
on less than that.

Do you guys experience something similar? I've always heard that this noise gate is the best one out there and that it wont affect bthe tone at all, but the amp sounds alot more... choke kind of when I'm using it, it really tightens it up in an unpleasanmt way.

Any solution? Other units you'd recommend?

Thanks,
Daniel.

So are you saying it sucks your tone like dulls it, or rolls the highs off?
Or is it clamping too fast and choking off your notes?

nah, it kinda dolls it and takes out some of the low end, the amp sounds abit less natural and open with it.

It clearly states in the Descimator manual that it is known to suck the tone of the Bogner Uberschall, but it has not been proven with other amps.

You may have the amp volume louder than the (small?) room can handle
Every room has it's breaking point, a small bedroom will only contain so much volume before issues occur, regardless of ISP

Are you joking or being serious?

To the thread, I would try running an Overdrive before the ISP. A buffer at the very least.

Are you serious? Damn, this amp hates any sort of pedals, although logically it cant suck the tone of the uber if it's infront of it, it suppoused to suck only the guitar's tone, right?

people rant and rave about the isp , ive tried it twice just dont like it for the same reason , it effects tone...

What is it exactly that an amplifier does again?

ive been using a decimator with my ubers since 2004 and i never had any issues with tone sucking.

+1

noticed the same thing with my amplifier with it out front or in the loop. and this was the prorack G

Any chance your feedback might be just a lousy pick up or preamp tube? I've run the Decimator in front of my Uberschall and now run the G-string in front and loop. Worked like a charm both times flawlessly.

i hear it's a caring suck, and it even calls you the next day.

Is it a swallower or a spitter? :D

On a more serious note. Wait, that was serious.....

Its probably room dynamics, a sub-par preamp tube, too much treble or presence, pickups facing the amp. Lots of stuff. FWIW, I never found the need to any such device in a long time. If it is only gating you need, an MXR gate works wonders for that.

Everything sucks tone. Don't be fooled.

Steve

Definitely never had this issue with it. I absolutely love my decimator, wouldn't have a board without it :dunno:

Maybe the Uberschall likes the threshold lower by just a hair or something?

hmm, haven't had this issue with the ISP unit. I run a Gstring in front running it's own loop for my OD pedal, and I can't say I have a noticable difference in tone with it in the chain. I like to use some raw organic rock tones too depending on my mood, so anything that messes with the raw sound of the amp gets dumped pretty quick. There are some amps I don't even like engaging the loop because I hear a noticeable difference in tone. Maybe my ears are shot though, I like my volume pretty loud.

Yeah I've had regular decimators and now i use a G-string pedal and ive never had any issues with either. My band is recording atm and we're using my g string in the loop of a mesa roadster for rhythms and it sounds great. We actually first tried an NS2 and thought the decimator sounded way better.
