Hello,

i have seen many videos of this pedal and i have some questions:

compared to all other analog distortions ?? for example jhs pedal AT bogner burnley or suhr riot ?

Sounds maybe a little compresed and thin or not ?

Also will it work nice in the front clean channel of a full tube amp ?

thanx in advance

I've never used any of those other boxes so can't compare.

It's more a "preamp" than a distortion pedal, I prefer to use it with my solid state power amp or in the FX loop return of a tube amp. It can be used in front of a clean channel just as a distortion pedal, but I don't think that's the best way to use it.

thanx - is there any other similar distortion "drive" - not a preamp - pedal out there ?

i wonder if a preamp pedal like this connected in fx loop of a tube amp will completely "disable" the "Tube feel" - harmonics etc.... Am i right or wrong? I mean what is the point if in the end sound is similar to a digital fx ?

If you want a tube preamp, buy a tube preamp.

The Theta Preamp Pedal is most often paired with the ISP Stealth Poweramp as a very portable solid-state rig that sounds amazing. You can also use it through a tube power amp as I said, either standalone power amp, or just plug into any amp's FX loop return. It would work in front of a clean channel too, but I just prefer it the other way.

Think about someone who travels a lot and doesn't want to bring a lot of gear, and is using rental backline gear, and wants their own preamp sound. They just plug into the FX return of whatever the amp they get and still have their sound.

You might be more interested in the Amptweaker Tight Metal pedal. Kind of the same idea but a full on distortion pedal used to put in front of a clean amp.
