It's Happening.... 5150 III EL34 50 watt

i dunno what to think.

I'm sure there's some texture, in the room, that i can't get on a YT video. But if I'm being honest, based on the 4-5 min demo on yt...the JAC20 Mod that PsycoDave put up is better sounding to me. :scared:

Much like the original 5153 50w...it's thick and cutting, but more modern, less hot-rodded marshall...if all that makes sense.

Just my quick .02. Of course...if cash is on my side when these hit the streets...and all the bugs are worked out (assuming there are some), i'll still probably buy one. :lol: :LOL:
 
I need to not listen through my phone and fire up the studio monitors. It sounds good, just not sure how would like the crispness/feel of it? I am thinking the the 2x12 with the Heritage 30 is adding to that a bit. Like to hear it through a Helios 4x12.
 
Yeah, wish the demo included a sample through the Mesa 2x12.

Actually sounds more like a Rust in Peace sounding high gain tone rather than anything Ed ever had...
 
I'm really glad to see this on the market, but if it's as bright as the new demo vid, then I'm not sure I'll like it. I've played the 5150IIIS and didn't think it was as bright as this. Still cool as hell, but I hope it doesn't have that bright edge.
 
I watched the Anderton vid demo of it earlier too and couldn’t get through the video cuz the two clowns on there were like Chappers and Captain buckin on 4 redbulls. It was crazy annoying

Not a bad thing in my opinion! Amp sounds really bright though. I can definitely see this sitting well in a band mix! I wish he did the demo with the Mesa cab so I can hear what it sounds like though V30's.
 
Oh look, 3/24 and there it is... so Fender support WAS clueless :lol: :LOL:

The EVH Gear official demo is on the red channel with the gain above half which if this is like the 100w EL34 is WAY too high, IMHO and from owning the 100w EL34. That's why it sounds fuzzy.
 
Looking at the demo from EVH Gear…. He has the gain pretty high on the blue channel as well.
 
Sounds bitching. Like it’s older 100 watt brother.
Might just be my all time favorite amp. :D

Agree, sounds bright, but I can deal with that.
Shame that I literally brought a dsl100h 4 days ago.
I'm a marshall guy though.
 
EVH gear demo shows low and high gain clips in both blue and red. Sounds pretty cool!
 
It’s a great amp! I have the 100W and love every minute playing on it. This version is a nice form factor and size like the regular 50 Watt.

I might grab one of these 5153 EL34s. But, all things created equal I'd rather give Dave 1K for a new JAC20 with his mod.
