I know the ofr is supposed to be a direct replacement for the crappy jackson floyd, however - it isn't gonna extend past the recess is it? I ask because the old jacksons with schaller licensed floyds didn't have as much wood removed and the clamp screws hung over the wood

I also have an old ass Jackson Dinky that is in serious need of a Floyd upgrade/replacement. Where can I get a good price for a black OFR?

you can find new gotoh floyds for like 120 (probably 130 or 140 for black) on ebay. supposedly they are drop ins for OFR and according to some people as good if not better

Which bridge does the DK have on it? JT580LP?
yep
You may need the Floyd Pro if you have the JT580LP. The LP is for "low profile". That bridge has narrower string spacing also. Can you post a pic of what is there now?

Work with the JT580LP a bit more. I have one on a guitar of mine and it is rock solid, even with heavy divebombs / abuse.

i don't actually have one, I was just asking in case i decide to get one

nope, the floyd pro has different stud spacing. I had a DK-2 that I did a direct repacement with an OFR and it worked fine. The allen screws did stick out a bit past the recess on a couple of saddles but I never pull up on the bar that much anyway ;)

Better, according to John Suhr. All the new Suhrs with Floyds have the Gotoh. Apparently the newer OFRs aren't up to the quality of the older ones.
