Let me start off saying I'm a Jackson fan. I have an RR1 and used to have a Charvel Xl750. Looking for a new shredder with a strat body. The soloist is a bit more expensive, and I'm a Jackson fan. But I still would like to give the Ibanez prestige line a shot. Just looking for an easy playing typical shredder. Thoughts??

Can you play them before you buy them? I love the neck thru soloists... but I am a Jackson fan boi.

I have had an SL2H which I sold and now a CS music zoo charvel and a US production model charvel. Personally I like the bolt-on charvels *a lot* more than the neck-through soloist I had. I really think the neck-through does something weird to the attack that I don't like. That said of course a US Jackson is built great, mine def was. I just prefer bolt-on or set neck (gibson) it seems.

This is like the Chevy vs. Ford debate... no real winner other than what you like personally. Both lines are killer.

Both are great guitars, there are however some differences. Have a look at details such as: woods (alder of the SL2 vs mahogany of the Ibby?), floyd rose vs edge, pickups, etc. The neck on the Ibanez can be a bit slimmer than the SL2, but that really depends on the model. I had an RGT once that had a fatter neck than the SL2H. In the end it matters what you prefer. The details may feel very different to you. So you have to try first. In terms of quality, both brands have had their share of problems but they offer value for money now IMHO. I'm a fan of Jackson too.

I hate to be THAT guy, but the RGT320 is a great guitar (as stated in the post above). Finding one is somewhat difficult and I have one (with upgraded pickups ready to shred). :aww: Sorry for the shameless plug...

nice score. it was a truly awesome guitar.

It is a great guitar. It's currently for sale because I don't get along with the new Z Trems. I have MANY more Ibanez Prestige RGTs. :D
