I want a guitar body like Jake E Lee has with the reverse slant HSS pickup configuration.

I want it to fit a 22 fret Jackson MIJ dotted inlay neck.

Where could I get one affordablly? I don't care about fancy woods, Alder/basswood/swamp Ash is fine. Doesn't really matter. TBH.

Worst case scenario I could source a 21fret fender neck.

I am fully competent to assemble/tweak/level/crown if needed.

Cheers ?

Affordably, I would say KNE guitars. I have one of their bodies (a Dinky style) and its as good as I would/could hope for.

I´m not sure anyone does finished bodies with the Jackson neck pocket anymore. But I think KNE, USACG and Musikraft all will do that wider pocket, even if none of them offer finish on their bodies anymore.

I just want to have something to stick a neck on. I would be fine with fender or Jackson, preferably Jackson because I have an extra neck lying around. Not a huge deal.

I am just going to do a basic finish on the body. Nothing fancy.

I like what I see from KNE. One of these days I will send the email and see if they will do it. I hope they will without making a big price jump.

Pretty sure Musikraft still offers 2-1/4" neck pockets.

I asked about a little tweaked strat body from KNE and Mitch was very helpful with it, i'm sure he could do the Jake E Lee body for you.

Also, this would make an interesting partscaster build thread! :D

I've had good luck with Warmoth, not sure about the neck pocket though. I think most have 2 3/16", not 2 1/4".

Yeah, Warmoth are strictly standard Fender pockets and heels as far as I know.

Bummer.

That's what I am thinking.

A relatively uncommon partscaster.

I just have to have the funds TBH. I have some pedals that I need to sell that I built, and have sunk money into that, and I kinda have to wait until I move a few.

However I could do a version of his classic charvel with a MIM strat more or less and I would not have to order a custom body, as I have decent enough of a router to hack out the center under the pick guard so I can get his angled SC's in there.

Also i could put the money in the neck instead of the body if I used a run of the mill strat body.

But if I go with a strat it's not hardtail.

But with the Charvel body I would need a neck or I would have to use the Jackson neck, which could be cool.

A vote for MIM strat body from here, they rock!

Mithch is cool..I ordered a Dinky body from him and had plenty of questions and he answered everyone quickly,+ a 7 day oredered, made and made it to my front door in 7 days..it fit my Kramer neck perfectly so give him a try.

Maybe that is what I will do then (KNE).

Or just go the strat route and gut it to a swimming pool route and make it like the classic Jake E Lee charvel.

I will see how the stars align with the finances.

Swimming pool/universal routing is actually great because it reduces a bit weight and mass from the body and makes it more resonant and comfortable to play!

I'm going to get my MIM strat modded as well when i have the funds so i guess we'll meet at the front page then. :D

Sounds good!

I just don't know if I want the strat themed one or if I get the custom body and use a Jackson neck.

Maybe I will see if that Jackson can sell and re-evaluate the sceneario then.
. The only good thing about the custom body is that I can go non trem and not have a pickguard like his current blue one.

WOW! That's the trick isn't it? I had never really thought about it before so I checked ebay for hard tail strats and it looks like they are all squier bullets or really expensive. Then I checked for Charvels since they started making hard tail models but no luck with those either.

If it helps, I damaged my Charvel Jake E Lee pickguard and sent it to Tony Dudzik (adudzik@wowway.com) at Pickguardian and he did an outstanding job in cloning my pickguard. He now has the pattern and could probably knock it out with no problem.

Good Luck with the build!
