hello all,
I know I am a little late to the game, but I just stumbled onto your pickup and high gain amp shootouts and let me say...... You have more done for my search for tone, via those shootouts, in one day than any other outlet I have explored in months. Man that is the kind of shit I have been looking for on youtube and the internet forever and you pound those out like that in a couple of days. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3 questions: 1. I was wondering what the bridge pickup is in your black(?) Les Paul Std.? 2. In the pickup shootout, what is the amp you are using in between the HBE and the Diezel Herbert? You say it with a super deep voice effect. AND 3. Any more super shootouts planned in the future?

Hell yeah! James' shootouts are amazing! It's people like him that make RT the best gear forum around!
Welcome to forum also.

the Amp shoot out was awesome!
got to hear alot of killer amps!
Welcome aboard as well.
ALOT of knowledge here! People are really cool as well.

I like James Shootout.... but I like his shootout better when I got a nice set of headphones for my computer! LOL

I think James clips and videos over at Youtube have convinced me the most that the Kitchen Sink Mod is something that I NEED to invest in if I want the most kick ass Marshall tone ever! His latest video demoing the Jerry Cantrell Mod and the other Marshall with the Brown Eye Mod... wow!

Thanks man, they are fun and Dave really help make them both possible. The bridge pickup in my black Paul is a WB Fire. I think the amp you are referring to is my '71 Super Tremolo in HBE mode, I said it in a deep voice because that's what Pete Thorn did on his demo and I was busting his balls/paying homage. :) We are going to do something big this year in my new studio, not sure yet...

Thanks for posting all the myriad pickup and amp clips, James! What a wealth of info for us gear-fags, amp-hags and tone tweakers! I'd like to hear some more clips of that '76 Marshall you have... that thing just rips for my ears! Please let us know when you will host (are you crazy enough?) any future amp shootouts! Now...Where the FUCK else can ya find as many amps - modded or not - demo'd, mixed and posted as you have done??? Our hats off to you and all the guys helping you out!

Brian

The clip at one shoot out with Dave friedman and the classic JOSE modded vintage plexi rocked! That is a special amp for sure.
