what are yours guys opinions about running a seymour duncan JB/59' pickup set in a solid basswood body ? it is going in my wolfgang once i get it back from paint to be exact. the original pickups were a bit to bright for me personally, so i am putting something new once i get it back. i am looking for a pickup with a little more bottom end response to it ... if these arent the pups to do it, what would you guys suggest ?

edit: also has anyone tried the new EVH wolfgang guitars? i hear the enw wolfgang pickups are a bit warmer sounding than the older ones with a more balanced sound ...

I've got a JB/59 set in a PRS CE-24. Not exactly what I would consider warm. It's a great pickup combo, but if you're looking for more bottom end/warmth, you might try the Anderson H3+ / H1- set. I just happen to know where you can get a set of these too... :D

+1, just took the JB and 59 out of my alder ESP for this reason. not "full" sounding at all with those guitars. JB i would recommend in darker voiced guitars - especially rosewood fretboards. this has been my experience where they sound their best.
