So I kinda have this Axe Fx standard I've been playing with :D ...Saturday I had a couple of guys from the board over for a little gear fest. We had some of the best high gain amps out there in the house, an Ecstasy Classic, a Herbert, an OD100SE+, a Cornford MK50 and a Peter's dual channel Halo/Gryphon (which I love).

I've gotta be honest, the Axe ROCKED! More than held it's own against the best of the best.

JB really did have it right...the thing I like best about the Axe, is that I can dial out whatever that one thing is that keeps an amp fom being perfect, or dial in the one thing that's missing. You know, the thing that makes me sell

I never thought I'd dig it this much, but it really does feel, sound and respond like a GREAT tube amp. I don't want to sound like a zealot (insert any well known owner name here.....), but in all seriousness, this thing is REALLY, REALLY good!

Just thought I'd share

You guys are going to make me run out a buy one !!

Wait a minute I already have one.

I agree...the Axe-Fx kicks major butt !

and it keeps getting better and better and >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I found the cure for Axe-Fx Gas. No Money :D

Selling gear seems to be hit or miss, so its hard to raise the funds. That's the main thing that is holding me back.

So when you guys compared the Axe to the other amps, did you run direct or through a power amp or what? What was the setup?

BTW, Have there been any hints when a version 2 Axe-Fx will be released?

Not possible, I'm sort of calling bullshit on this. Is yours loaded with Mullards or something?

Running through the power section of an MK50, or a VHT.

I don't blame you, from all this talk and being able to download everyone's settings I am going to of my MK IV soon :scared:

Well.......the axefx is WAY easier to sneak through the house than an amp, maybe I wont

Well, as long as you don't decide to build a rig in a 10 space heavy duty shock mount rack at your friends house and then try to get it down your basement stairs when you get home....... Like I did yesterday.

I allmost lost her down the stairs. My next purchase will be an appliance dolly. :D

Scott, sweet rack pic! I bought a Mesa Studio preamp to compare/contrast and mod a Randall module to get the same tones (which worked pretty well) - and then put it in the loop on the Axe to see how good the IIC+ on the axe is vs a real Mesa.

Axe can cop the studio tone no problem. Almost makes me want to dial in my 'real' SLO and XTC with the axe and create presets for each... then consider dumping the real amps.

However, the axe still doesn't have the 100% feel of the real deal, and the real amps handle volume control changes a little better. Plus, and this is a stupid reason, but I really dig seeing an SLO or Bogner 1/2 stack behind me when I gig. I know, it's purely psychological, but I wanted those amps for so long that to finally have them is just a good feeling.

Hahahaha   My problem is not so much the weight, but the bulk and handle location. It has the double handles on the sides instead of one handle on each side in the middle. Yep.....dolly.
