So, I've had this JCM 800 for around 6 months. The punched serial on the back of the chassis dates it to 1981 if I read correctly. I took some guts shots the other night for a potential seller and noticed a hand-written date of 6-1-83. I'm also curious if anyone would be able to tell if anything is not original just based on the guts photos. The only "mod" I am aware of was the ability to use EL34s since it was stocked with 6550s originally. Any info from somebody knows vintage Marshalls would be super appreciated as I am trying to sell it! Thanks!

yep its a 81. check the white sticker for the build date also check the trannys and choke for a date code.

I would get rid if the writing inside. A previous owner who had it 83 more than likely. You also have a broken leg on the screen grid resistor on power tube V4. Looks stock.

Yeah, perhaps that is the name of whoever modded it for the tube swap or the original owner doing it as a safety precaution in case it was stolen?
