Jer’s “Everything Helix Stadium Journey” thread… Update: 11/27/25

Well, my Helix Stadium XL showed up on Thanksgiving Eve, ensuring I’d have no time to get to it for a few days.

Irregardless, it’s here and I plan on giving it a thorough Rogering over the weekend.

Here’s what I have heard from others so far:

• The WiFi connection is a bit dicey from what I’m reading on the FB groups and other forums

• There’s lots of little bugs around saving duplicate alt patches

• Snapshots are acting a little finky

We all know everyone bitched about waiting for this release so L6 seemed pretty upfront that there would need to be patches/updates relatively soon post launch.

I’m hoping the Proxy release is announced at NAMM. I am interested in Showcase as my new band seems to be willing to embrace tech for live shows.

Anyway, more to come soon!

Mine came in, pretty solid unit. No issues with WIFI, but the snapshots aren't doing what I think they should. The biggest problem I have is when I load IRs through the WIFI connection and windows app, the unit won't boot the next time until i format the card. Really odd.

It really isn't impacting me as I'm running it into a powerstation with a 2x12 cab right now. Sounds fantastic. Next time I have a gig i'll probably just use this in some capacity.

UPS decided that it needed to take a tour of their hubs after being scanned in my home city...some overnight service.

I have high hopes for Proxy.

Hopefully it'll be out in the next month or 2. I'm dragging my feet on moving a few amps along until I can get a good capture of them.

The biggest problem I have is when I load IRs through the WIFI connection and windows app, the unit won't boot the next time until i format the card.

If you've added a bunch of IRs, Stadium takes about 500ms longer per IR to boot. This only happens the first time you boot after loading new IRs; it's just indexing them into the IR database. I agree that we should make that more obvious so it doesn't appear like the unit has frozen.

So if you add, say 500 IRs, add ~4 minutes to the boot time, but again, this only happens the first time after loading IRs. And I think the dev guys are working on this not happening at all.

Edit: tried that just now but no dice. Selecting 10-12 IRs at a time to upload and then dragging them into folders crashed the helix, and now it won't boot. Had to reset the SD card. Small potatoes, again I'm sure it'll get worked out in time. Enjoy thanksgiving and quit worrying about a guitar FX pedal!
