so my gas for this has been dormant for quite some time now since intially finding out that JC was having his own wah.
now they are FINALLY available locally to me (im in aus) ive decided that i cant contain the fan boi within...and the exchange rate is good so i just have to order one...

i know its pretty pointless asking what the verdict on this is...as im seconds from pulling the trigger...hell i have hte same initials as my hero..so fark it im taking that as a sign.

but if you do have/own/played/used this wah...please post your thoughts...

get it. it replaced all mine and is on my board. i was using a rack wah only, now i have taken it out. before, i was using the 535q and the JC is better in my opinion. bought the hammet one, but it did nothing at all for me. the wheel on it allows you to roll up/down the range of the wah. you can find a sweet spot in it and leave it on for a little auto-Q. good pedal.

now, my bitch and gripe to dunlop, put some tail lights on it. sometimes, you got to click a couple times in the heat of things to make sure it is on or off!

done...now comes the impatient wait

im excited.

The CFH has two led lights. One for the boost, another for on/off. I'm borrowing one right now, and it's pretty awesome. I wasn't expecting it to be at all, but it's very tweakable and doesn't suck tone. Check it out if you haven't. If you have and still don't like it, disregard all I've said.

Easy mod to do and will cost about $1, a drill, and about 15 minutes...

The Cantrell wah is awesome. It's basically a plain old GCB-95 with some tweaked values and a pot to tweak the toe down response, but it's a great sounding wah.

I've owned a couple of high $$$ wahs and sold them because I thought the Dime wah sounded better.

The Dime is now in my cable bag as a backup for the Cantrell.

the 535Q is way more versatile, but the Cantrell sounds better, imo
with the 535Q I had to dial it differently for each situation (clean, crunch, mid gain, high gain) if I wanted the best possible tone
the Cantrell works flawless for everything, despite of having only one sound (the fine tuning knob is VERY subtle)
the sweep is very narrow and vocal, so it doesn't get muddy heel down like the hendrix or wylde and doesn't get thin and shrill toe down

So speak to me about this mod.

Hi Steve! Does it stand out in the mix OK? I tend to either like a wah with a built in boost, an adjustable boost or a mid boost which many CBs tend to have. Right now I use a Vox USA version v847 and it sings great, really vocal but I was not impressed so much at rehearsal when it came time to hit the high gain and cantrell, lynch type stuff.

I'd love to know how it compares to a Buda Wah.

I am loving my Dunlop Rack wah (first version)...it just replaced my clyde deluxe, which is sitting next to my chrome 535Q. I can't imagine how much better this could possibly be. I will check one out this week, but my rack wah is not going anywhere.

Does anyone have any info on the tweaked values and the pot? Would it be possible to mod my GCB-95 to get it closer to the Cantrell one?

I have a Cantrell wah on the way! I will compare to my fully modded Vox v847

Does the wah have a slight db boost? A wah should stand out in the mix.

Can anyone do a A/B with the rack wah and see how close they can dial the Rack wah to the Cantrell? I cant imagine not being able to nail it, mine is damn close to my ears but am curious how others will dial it in.

Would still like to know if the Cantrell cuts through a band mix. A good wah either needs to be voiced so it cuts a mix well or have a slight boost when engaged. The fact that nobody is responding to this question, has me cautious before using one.

I got sick of waiting for a local shop to get one of these in stock and just ordered one sight unseen. All the positive remarks in this thread are making the wait unbearable!

Looks like Jerry uses some sort of boost by Friedman the "Buff Puff" after his wah
