Here are some quick clips of a JCA22H I worked over. The Crunch and OD are redone...mainly the OD as its similar to the Hammer mod I did on the JCA20H's. There is an Intellifex in the loop to show how it sounds because some people asked about it. The clean channel is with the gain @ 5 and the master is at 6 on all these clips on both channels. The guitar volume is not rolled back on the clean clips. The preamp gains are set between 5 and 7 with lots of room to spare on the Crunch and OD parts. These are recorded with a SM57 and then split into 2 tracks and normalized...that's it. There is one spot on the Dokken piece where it is a dry signal and then to OD/effects for comparison. The Scorpions clip used the "Gain Type" switch only. I didn't try to dial in any specific tone...just some cool licks and variety.

Brian is killer at modding these little amps, the one he did for me is incredible, I would bet you couldn't pick it out on a clip, with it and a Marshall, believe it.

This is a great sounding amp!! I played this and his 50 watt and as always I was just blown away with the tone!!!!

If I get a chance, maybe I can do something heavier.
Please do! If I can get a low wattage amp that can do glassy cleans, a bit of mid-gain (take a OD and a Fuzz well), and do the high gain modded Marshall thing, then I am on board 100%. Needs an effects loop, and needs to be able to go from Clean to Lead in a split second.

Well so far it meets all those requirements so I'll work on some clips. It should sound pretty good since it has 4 stages in the OD. The crunch channel is pretty versatile as you can hear. I think at least in person the EVH and Scorpions stuff sounded as good or better than any of the current mods out there for this era. The 80's/90's metal is also pretty covered on either channel.

I agree completely!

What's the wallet damage on one of these with the mods I'd need?

250.00 for my standard mod work on these, the same as the one in the clip. New tubes are extra if you want them.

That's not bad at all...
