How to Ruin a Great Song = these dumbass guys should be shot!

The GOOD Old Original that Totally Destroys the above Non Musical Angry Trash!

I dont think they are doing anything other than paying tribute to the original. Not trying to be better. All great musicians and Dino's got a great voice.

Well, I thought it was so-shit that I downloaded it and will be adding it to my clip collection.

Great effort IMHO. Each to his own I s'pose, but in my book it's a Helluva-lot better than the vast majority of covers you hear out there.

Thanks for the heads-up, WGAF.

Deep Purple should remake the Joel Hoekstra/Dino Jelusick/Virgil Donati/Tony Franklin version.

Wow, definitely a very talented group of guys!!

I really dig the "homage" mixed in with the "modernized" stuff for sure. Nicely done.
I didn't necessarily enjoy the departure into the "jazz odyssey" section as much, although the fretless bass was BITCHIN!! Loved the slide into the harmonic, just some sweet touch there.

Remakes are fun AND I feel like it is OK to embellish a bit, it's a remake, not just the same song played by different guys.
That said, this may have included some OVER-playing, yet not doubt a cool remake.

As always, YMMV

Thanks for your comments & yes, YMMV is always true.

I just don't get the love Dino is getting this past year. Yes the dude can sing but there is nothing unique about his voice at all, he just sounds like a clone of Coverdale/Dio. I thought that Dirty Shirley thing he did with Lynch was awful vocally...boring as batshit

You sir are 100% correct on every count.

I acknowledge everyone's ears are different & tastes vary.

FOR ME the reasons this TRACK, version is diabolical are -

1) Zero musical finesse by each member

2) Vocals are one dimensional with no dynamics or musicality plus it sounds like his underpants are strangling his nuts & riding his ass crack causing anus irritation. Did I hear somebody say he sings overly angry killing any possible attempt at sounding musical?

3) Bass? need I say more except it looked like Franklin had zero interest plus managing a plectrum was like watching a guy sawing a log in half with zero physical control of the plectrum & bass at the time. Switching to fingers it's the good Franklin we remember but for a VERY brief moment that was no value add to the track except to show us he can still do it

4) Guitar? No feel, playing by numbers out of the gate. Sound was average at best for this track & continually looking into the camera made him look like he was too involved with himself than the music

5) Drums? Yes, Virgil can pound a kit FAST & HARD IN MANY METERS but as usual NOT for the song. He was again trying out for the Olympics with his physical effort with total disregard for the music, song.

Stormbringer was recorded 46yrs ago & has been heard & played by many musicians millions of times. Listen to the original version start to finish right now & you'll hear how this version is an insult to the original. There is no reason other than self absorption driven by laziness & camera hogging that arrived at this unmusical monstrosity.

Yes, these guys have MUCH experience & ability but I'm afraid it wasn't used by any of them on this track.

maybe the fact they are all playing to a click track over the internet is to blame for a lot of it, no playing off each other....but that still would help the vocals hehe
