John Sykes vs Doug Aldrich

Sykes - Although I love Doug, Sykes is the better songwriter and player IMO. I loved Doug's playing on the Burning Rain albums, but in Whitesnake he's Sykes Lite. The 2 albums he's done with them are pretty meh and his recorded tone on those has WAY too much bottom end and is quite fizzy. His tone on the live Whitesnake dvd is outstanding though.

Aldrich is a solid player but I don't think he's anywhere near Sykes' level as a complete package..."Sykes Lite" is a good description IMO.

Sykes for me all the way even though Aldrich does kick ass too!!!! Nothing like Whitesnake 1987 and Blue Murder S/T.

Cant and wont choose; Ive loved Sykes since day one and the same with Doug and hes a good friend of mine . When it comes to songwriting, Sykes has to get the Nod..

Sykes for me primarily because his writing and collaboration in Whitesnake...he is a helluva player without question.

Aldridge I know very little of other than playing with Dio and all of his YT clips. I love the guys tone and he is also an excellent player. Sykes gets the nod until Doug writes a couple classic hard rock melodic metal songs :0
