Just a curiousity given that I have never seen an amp actually modded by Jose for sale. From the little I have read he seemed to be fairly active through the 80s, and given the popularity of the Cameron Jose mods, I am just surprised you don`t see more of the 'real' deal. Have no idea what they would go for though...Anyone?

My understanding is that the mods were very inconsistent, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them have been scrapped or rebuilt. There are probably some out there that change hands and nobody knows what it is or even that it's modded, also. Not everybody freaks over mods. ;)

Yeah, I had read that his mods were quite inconsistent so I am sure that many of them were rebuilt (or completey ditched in the early 90s). I suppose I am just more surprised that I have seen more trainwrecks and dumbles as well as a plethora of other 'named' modded amps (i.e., Fuchs, Rick St.Pierre (Wizard), etc.), thats all  Not interested in tracking one down or anything, just surprised since other modders have mods named after him (Cameron and Voodoo) and yet you never see them.

James Hetfield has one.

YOu can PM Trace at Voodoo for his take on his Jose and SAH5150 and Chubtone have experience with different Jose mod'd Marshalls.

I do and it wasn't pretty. Very aggressive amps.

Nah, Not at all. Im pretty sure everyone understood what you were saying!!

My experiance with the Jose I tried was that it sounded pretty bad but I have heard ones (like John Sykes!!) That just killed. Like everyone is saying, Jose had a few mods. The one I heard sounded exactly like the tone on the Bullet boys album and I hated that tone lol :D

Steve (sah5150) and Curt and even Mark Cameron should be able to answer any questions that you have

What did they taste like? Do they float?

They don't float, but surprisingly, they taste like french vanilla ice cream...

Becuase, honestly, I was expecting them to float :dunno: ...

I had a Jose modded JMP 2203 in early 2000. I was not impressed at all. It was very hard to control. Sorta sounded like a Mark I but way more flubby on the bass response. I've heard good ones, but mine was not one of them. When I bought it, I had visions of Sykes tone... boy was I surprised!

Really? I liked it! Then again, I'm a Bullet Boyz fan. :)

I was a fan to!! Just did not dig the tone. Listen to his solos carefully.. The amp definitely chokes out when he is trying to play faster riffs. Its like he hits a note and then the note decays with absolutely no hangtime!!

He is not what I'd consider a really good player either, which compounds the problem...

I have to say that the Jose mods I had sounded really good. I was able to get a really nice "Under Lock and Key" kinda tone from those amps, which is what I was shooting for at the time. A little Furman EQ, a bit of delay from a Roland SDE-3000, another amp for the delayed sig, a few cabs and I was was set...

Jose was a real nice guy too... he was really old when I met him and not in good health either... but full of stories about being backstage at VH shows, etc... His little shop, Arrco Electronics, was a mess, but always had a bunch of amps from the big 80s players waiting for mods or repairs...

I just kinda figured that guy didn't use a shitload of distortion and that's what I was hearing? I'll have to throw it in the CD player and listen again. :)
I hear that the singer, Marq Torrien was a really good guitar player( loads better than sweda) but for some reason, they thought that hed make an awesome front man...

I think Mark Cameron told me that but Im not sure...
