Has anybody ever had this on a guitar before? The other day I went to pick up my JP7, which has always been a great playing and well set-up guitar, and I had horrible buzz coming from the open strings buzzing on the first fret. I figured maybe the weather change had done it a small neck adjustment would fix it, but when I went to adjust the wheel it was so loose I could turn it with my finger. I eventually loosened it all the way and it wasn't putting any relief in the neck. So Ernie Ball customer service says the rod may be "stuck" in there, and they suggested I loosen the wheel all the way, brace the headstock, and push with a pretty decent amount of force around the 9th fret to try to pop it loose. I wasn't crazy about the idea but I tried anyway, and had no luck. I pushed hard enough that I was worried I was going to damage something. I would guess it's probably a broken rod, but anyone have any thoughts before I bite the bullet and sent it back to Ernie Ball?

The rod could be stuck because of humidity causing the neck to swell and choke it off. In any case, I'd send it back to EB. When I owned EB guitars, I always shipped them back when they had issues. They may find they need to build you a new neck. Don't take the chance of causing further issues they won't support. It's a pain in the ass but the best way to go. Good luck.

I would just send it to MM, they're very helpful at fixing their instruments and I wouldn't want anyone else to touch my guitars...

My rod got stuck once. The paramedics eventually had to be called. Kind of embarrassing, but I don't go to that public pool anymore. :)
