Just Bought an ADA MP-1

i didnt have the guts to tell the guy i bought it from it will be my next hack job

theres a mod4 mark II mod and a 3TM mod for gain. im going to do the mod4 first.. clips and details will follow as soon as i get the pieces

If you can go for the 3TM mod, then I'd say go for it. I've had both and was able to compare both side by side. the 3TM is winner by far.. atleast to me. The gain was more useful even when cranked (but there is no need to do that). It was more aggressive, tighter and thicker sounding. And the 2 extra trimpots on the Tube board give you further tone controls.

Awesome, always thought it would be cool to mod a preamp yourself. You should make clips before mods, after the mod4 and then again after the 3TM so we can hear some good comparisons! Good luck dude

yeah im excited. i really dont have a good way of recording anything. i got by safely with the parents helping me out for summer semester at school. but, alas, im still selling the ibanez or trading for rack gear and a cheap LTD (that sounded bad ass last time i played it), as well as a larger 8 space holder.. power amp.. BBE.. another furman, etc

yes, the 3TM mod making the tone thick is what sold me. 5150's are there =]

i might do the 3TM and see what i can work with, then follow with the Mod4 MKII afterwards if need be.

as far as my own mods, i never say "i will" until i mess with it and see what it needs. but from what i heard, right out of the box, modded, through a decent marshall PA or something simillar is in serious metal territory.

ill definately try to do my best as far as recordings of this. i might go see an old friend and "borrow" his basement recording area one night

but yes. definately awsome.

3TM is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.... I had the same set-up as Duke a while back 3TM/VHT and it was MASSIVE sounding. The 3TM is highly underrated mod, that thing just KILLS.

LOL, who would sue you ADA Amplification has not been in business for ages and you can get a complete set of schematics from adadepot.com

the tone though is definately happening

cool, ADA is definitely a great place to start for some seriously righteous 80's metal

I always liked that clip.. Chucky is a buddy of mine. I remember when I met him for the first time and he played his own custom made guitar.. man he could freakn play.

Do you know if he was using anything to boost his ADA 3TM or was that straight in ??

and was he running it thru a tube power amp ?

either way thats absolute BEST 80's tone I've ever heard thru any preamp
