wow man, I must say I REALLY enjoyed that clip!

how much would an amp like that cost if I were to ask you to build me one? :)
PM'd

ooh, Can you PM me the price for one these I'm also interested!

Kind of reminds me of my Rev F. What cab/speakers?

As an experiment, try opening the presence up some to help clear up the mud. As you already pointed out previously, a lot of the pre-500 brighter/tighter/more aggressive seems to come from the amp simply having more presence. Dimeing the presence takes the slightly saggy response and adds immediacy. The trade off is that you loose the 3D response that later revisions are known for. If it's too bright, dial the presence back using the treble knob.

Also interesting is dimeing both the presence and the mids while the treble is on zero.

Sounds great, smoother than a Dual Rec IMO,i'd buy one,not kidding.
Congrats

I've owned quite a few Rectos. This does NOT sound like a Mesa Rectifier. It sounds BETTER! :) Seriously. It sounds light years better than a Rectifier. It has a very articulate and not so fuzzy tone. Kudos!

Hmm...another assumption on my part. I always ran / run my Red presence off, and at that point, it should be a little darker than Orange to Modern. Then again, it's been a couple of years since I've played on a 2ch, so maybe not.

are EQ patterns are entirely different, and a use a boost. we really are doing that apples and oranges thing.

my bass always hovered between 9:30-11:00, mids were ALWAYS dimed, treble was ALWAYS rolled off.
and my pres sat much along the lines of where the bass was, gain was comfortable between 12:30 and 1:30

IMHO i loved the mids shift in the pre amp when you roll off the treble.

Listening back, it sounds to me like the Merc's give it a nice aggressive bite.

Sounded like a modded schumacher era rectifier (i don't like saying pre 500 cause they weren't the only ones to get the schumachers. I love my rev F with schumachers it in the 15XX)

also, since you have merc's, I think they have the current for 6550's. if you have a quad laying around.
I would suggest biasing the amp up for those. and doing clips.

Favorite tubes in my rectifier

I'm local... You can borrow a boost if you want.... Also, you should build me one!
Guys, I'm going to use my amp as a prototype and begin a small scale production. It seems I'm not the only one wanting this kind of tone, and since it's not available anywhere else, I'd love to bring this amp to the market! I do need to make sure the amp is bulletproof before I'm comfortable offering anything up, and so I'll need a few weeks to assemble what will be the finished product. But once I've got it all together, I'll be able to offer a PTP high gain amp head with the best parts available for about $1500. More information and clips will follow in the upcoming days and weeks. My hope is that the tone speaks for itself, and my goal is to build one of the best high gain / metal amps money can buy.

Huge thanks to everyone for the inspiration!

Might want to start locally just to make sure proper support can be offered. But let me know what I can do

I'm definitley interested in hearing more when you're ready.
