Thanks, had to get it out of my system.

I was talking to a good bassist a few weeks ago after a jam an he went on an extended rant about how much he hates all Fender Bass amps, lol.
I never liked Fender bass anything. Even J basses I could care less about really. Now the Fender Bassman amp is great. But it's not really a bass amp. :dunno:

I got banned, in part, from TGP for telling a dude his Rumble sounded like shit and had no balls. The other thing that did it was trolling a douche about his P bass.

I don't like the J bass near as much as a precision but there are def worse basses out there nowadays. The all tube 300watt Fender Rumble bass seemed like a nice rig but I never heard one in person and Ampeg is pretty much the gold standard.

Well a blues guy would like a P bass. If I was a Blues guy I still wouldn't really like them. It's like playing a baseball bat. My dad's Active American Deluxe Jazz bass plays very well. Not nearly as well as my Spector though. And my Spector can do P bass as well as a P bass.

I am definitely an Ampeg junkie. But not just any Ampeg. Not even just any SVT.

I've seen P's without baseball bat necks but many years ago I used a cheap-o Squier P with flats through my Plexi head and 15" speaker and made quite a bit of cash vs my investment with that rig. It was the equivalent to playing a nice 2x4 for the most part.

I only have one bass amp and it's just for in the house... An ampeg Micro-CL.

I doubt it'd be good for a serious gig but it sounds good in a house for practice. It'd probably be fine for recording too but I normally just cheat with bass and go direct and use a modelled amp. I'm not real fussy when it comes to bass.

I do have a Squier J Bass but it was just a donor body and I put J-Retro preamp in it and swapped out the pickup for Dimarzio Model J's + put a beefier bridge on it. A little cheaper than building a Warmoth or something.

I did once play a Squier Classic Vibe J bass that played great. Better than a lot of American models. That’s the thing about Fenders. No matter where they’re made you gotta wade through about 30 of them to find the one that feels good.

Exactly - I played a few of them in the store - they were all cheap as chips but the one I picked had a nice action so really for a donor body and neck that's all you need.

Yeah truth. I played about 25 different strats before I selected a nice 58 CS for my old man. QC on them in the late 90's and early 2000's was abominable.

I’ve had and still have some really nice basses. The two best I ever played was a Pedulla 4 string and my Spector. I love that bass.

Only one Fender bass i actually enjoyed, '69 Fender Bassman (blackfaced) into a Fender 2x15 cab. It was a fine guitar rig and sorry I sold it.
