Just compared my buddy's G-Major with my Xpression

Ive tried Both and I bought the xpression. I think the Xpression sounds much better and its easier to program IMHO. The only thing that I think blows on the xpression is the pitch shifting. They should have just done away with that and put the available processing power to better use.

Totally agreed! I went back again tonight for another hour between the two, and I just think my xpression has the natural warm sound and the G-major has that clear smooth vai thing going. To each his own....I sold this very G-major to my friend, and just wanted to hear it again since I got a different amp since the time I sold it to him. Glad I did, cuz I prefer the Xpression.

I used to have a Voodoo Valve Online about 8 years ago. That thing was cool too. Rocktron's phaser is pretty damn good on its unit.

I would like to try a Lexicon PCM-80 or 90 through my rig too, or the new PCM. Also, eventide stuff, but don't have the moola.

I own a lexicon PCM-80 and the reverbs are just insane on them. They are pretty tough to beat when it comes to that but the catch with any of the lexi boxes is the lag time. They have a sick lag when midi switching. I prefer the lexicon boxes in the studio. Most guys who use lexicon boxes in there live rig use multiple units with just use one patch set. Kind of a waste but if you have big bucks then I guess its not an issue!

I use my PCM 80 for verb only, the most killer verb I have ever heard. I bought mine from a studio that had upgraded and the last pro to use mine was Bon Jovi so it smells like pussy

I mean pitch shifting as in creating an octave or harmony effect. Every Rocktron box that I have tried sucked when it comes to that. I kind of expected them to fix it over the years but they never did.

The Intelliverb does good sounding intelligent harmony... The G-Force sounds a bit better though...

Which one has a better reverb ? I am looking to buy the G-Force. How does the reverbcompare to the Xpression ? Does the Rocktron have kill dry like the G-Force ? I will be using it in the fx loop with a line mixer.

Everything sounds better on the G-Force compared to the Xpression. That said, an old Lexicon MPX-1 kills it for dealy and reverb. The first time I heard the G-Force reverb in my rig, I was honestly shocked. It just replaced an MPX-1 and the G-Force verb was so ugly sounding compared to Lexicon.

IntelliPitch - the I-verb isn't intel. harmonizing AFAIK - please correct me if I'm wrong.
I have an I-Pitch for harmonizing . . . and AFAIK the same company wrote the harm. software for the I-Pitch and the G-Force.

it's weird how the lexicon can sound more transparent, yet more obvious at the same time, than the tc reverbs. tc verb is almost TOO transparent.
i've found however, through the use of the gforce's ducking feature, i can create an over the top verb, and then mix it in and out of the chain via ducking, so that it's pretty nice. but you REALLY have to tweak at it!
