...and I'm glad I did it. Very little difference in tone and less of a hassle since I never use the damn thing. I used to disconnect them years ago but haven't on my recent main 3 guitars. I'm happy I finally did though. No more hassle of making sure it's always on full. :)

I heard that. I've never tried it myself, but I rarely use the damn thing.

All I did was clip 1 wire. It was the wire going from the middle lug of the pot to the volume pot. This way, it leaves the grounds in-tact.

yep when i put the EMGs in my 7 string i didn't use a tone pot, just wired it for 2 volumes. best idea i've had in a while :D

I used to use tone pots very rarely. Last year, I discovered Hovland capacitors. These are amazing. They really make the tone controls useful.

Earlier this year, I installed my first Stellartone ToneStyler. Now, three of my guitars have one! This thing finds sounds in your pickups that you never knew exisited.

I like using the tone pots on my guitars with single coils. I like being able to get a real trebly sound from a full on bridge, then roll back tone to get a thick, full tone at middle and neck.

i never use the tone controls...most of the time when i have a 2 humbucker guitar and 2 pots, i make them both volumes...i havent done that on my Music Man because i hate taking pickguards off LOL but i will do it one of these days..i just have no use for a tone pot at all.

i find that taking out the tone ups the output very slightly and opens up the high end a tad. its very slight, but i like the subtle effect it has :)

You can still have that sound with a tone pot, but you have to use a Fender pot that disconnects the tone sweep when set on full. It's a great <$5 mod.

I used to do this all the time to my guitars, but recently I installed tone pots back into my two main guitars and it warmed them right up!

I disconnected the tone pots in my Agile 2800 and it gave a nice edge to the sound. Replacing the junk Chinese pots with CTS pots really improved the sound and dynamics, too.

I'm personally a fan of G&L's PTB system; one volume, one treble control, and one bass control. You can still get those rolled off jazzy Santana-esque sounds, but you can also get some cool thin glassy sounds by rolling off the bass.
