Been using the pro rack G for a couple years now and was liking my tone but not tripping on it. Well i just plugged direct in with just the Decimator pedal in the loop and holy shit, the amp came alive again. I went and A/B a couple times and the Pro sucks some punch and highs and lows. Damn, i was loving that unit.

Anybody ever notice this? Is there something i can do about it?

I was thinking maybe a buffer might help but the more i think about it, i love the pedal setup. Only thing is that it`s not optimal on the clean as it cuts a bit short but not that bad. Guitar>Cable>amp is the way to go.

Is there a way that i can use only channel two on the Pro? Without using the input of it.Using it like the Pedal.

Thanks for any input guys.

Chris

YOu can set the ProRackG to do anything the pedal can do and more....If you want to bypass the first input for taming your guitar noise, just adjust the threshold to leave that signal alone...Then just use your second input in the loop....Enjoy!

Thing is that i don`t want to input into the Pro Rack, i want to go strait in the amp and just use one channel on the Pro Rack for my loop.

Channel two doesn`t work alone, does channel one do?

I didn`t have time to try it yet, were jamming in a couple minutes.

Ive noticed that the decimator (pedal) does some thing to my tone. I run mine in the loop and it almost acts like an EQ. It is louder, more clear, more juice. Does this happen to you guys or am I losing my mind?

Owned a pro-rack G stereo mod and wrote a review in the review section of rack based units. Basically experienced the same thing. Hated it. Sold it on ebay the following week actually.

Hmmm...this is interesting and good to know. I am planning on putting together a rack rig throughout the rest of the year and a stereo modded ProRackG was part of the plan. I currently have one decimator in front and one in the loop, it is a must in my opinion. I kind of assumed a stereo modded ProRackG would do exactly the same as the two decimators....? Anyone else have any input on the subject?

I've never really noticed anything different in my tone using a pro rack G except when the filter tracking was set too high. One small nudge of that knob would deaden the sound. Could just be my set up though, I've only used it with a couple different amps.

Man we just finished our jam and god damn it, my Gryphon never sounded this good. The decimator in the loop is just flat out menacing. It does act a bit like an EQ and gives more of everything. The punch was insane, i`m running 6550`s and the lows are crushingly tight. Only thing is that on the clean i can`t bring my volume down cause it clamps the tone. Gain channel is ok even with the vol. knob down. When we jam it doesn`t really matter though cause my clean parts are all full volume and played loud. It`s rack mounted too so i can`t step on it if need be. I`m not getting any noise from the front end, so i don`t really need the first channel.

I wonder how the G string would do VS the Pro rack...

I wish my loop was switchable, i`d turn it off on my clean patches. But the more i think about it, i don`t want anything between my guitar and amp, just my cable. Haven`t used my wah in years, and i have the Dunlop rack wah...

Might be going that route myself

Are you using any boosts or overdrives before the amp? I never really needed one before the amp. Do you have any signal clamping when playing clean or more softly? It`s the only little complaint i have with the pedal. It ain`t that of a biggy though.

I tried it with the filter tracking off and both channels out and no difference. Plugged strait in after and

It sucks cause i really like the thing. Until i noticed this.

Just thought of something. I`v got an RJM RG-16 that i could use one if it`s loops to get it out of the chain on the clean patches.

I`ll try it and see if the tone changes going throught the RG-16. It shouldn`t affect it to much as it`s in the loop and not in front.

I have a couple of the stereo ProRackG's and they don't affect my tone at all.

The rack version is so expensive and heavy to do the same thing the pedals do, IMO. I'm currently running a MXR Smart Gate/ISP Pedal combination after seeing some suggestions from forum members.

In the front end it does affect my tone. I know anything in front changes the tone to a certain degree. The punchiness is just not the same.

If i could only use one channel of the Pro for my effects loop i`d be golden. I already have the unit and and it`s paid for.

Can i use only one channel of the Pro Rack?

I try to keep the front of the amp as "clean" as possible (oxymoron, I know). My ISP pedal is in the loops, and in front I have an 808. Thought about getting a rack version but decided against it.

I suggest running less gain and less volume and using your guitars volume knob to mute noise between songs. Ditch the noise gates. :dunno: :scared:
