Hi guys,

Just received one of these limited edition J-Custom RRG6 guitars from meestursparkle:

J Custom RRG6

It is a great guitar, but I cannot get the Edge Zero bridge to stay in tune for anything. When I depress the bar it returns out of tune on several strings. I can sometimes get around this by pulling up hard on the bar after depressing it, however, that is an impractical solution. I read the manual, but I did not find information that helped me solve the problem. I tried messing with the roller adjustment, but that didn't do it. The trem is sitting perfectly parallel to the top of the body.

Bottom line - this is the only Floyd style double locking tremolo I've ever used that seems worse than a standard trem... I know it is just a simple setup problem, but I haven't solved it...

Anyone have any setup tricks or suggestions, etc. for keeping this thing in tune when using the bar? All the rest of my Floyds, I can abuse like hell and the guitar stays perfectly in tune...

Thanks,

Steve

Congrats for the amazing guitar, Steve! How old are the strings? Check that the strings are locked properly in the trem, check that the screws that hold down the whole locking nut system haven't loosened.

Thanks for the help! I just read over at the jemsite forum that removing the ZPS bar might be the way to go. Defeats the purpose of the EZ bridge, but I don't really care... I don't know how old the strings are, but the guitar is new and basically hsn't been touched - I just don't know how long it has been sitting in the case... I'll see what works tonight...

I have to say I do love the way this thing plays though... Sweet!

When you remove the ZPS bar the trem operating becomes less stiff. The reason I suggested you to check the two screws that fasten the whole locking nut system into the neck is that on my RG507 the guitar didn't return to correct pitch after doing whammy tricks or after bending a string! It turned out to be that the those fastening screws had loosened a bit and the locking nut didn't stay still while bending or doing whammy tricks. :)

J-Customs are fantastic! I love them! I haven't seen anything else than flawlessly finished J-Customs so far. Frets are perfect and everything else regarding finishing has been perfect too. I played a RG8420BX day before yesterday and it, surprise surprise, killed. :)

Make sure the hardware is tight, remove the ZPS, change the studs, and make sure the trem pivot points have proper lubrication.

Steve, what was the model number of that beautiful black 7 string jcustom that you bought recently w/ the EMG's, I love that guitar!!

Oh man - you may have hit the problem on the head here! I noticed that I was getting out of tune while bending as well. I assumed it was the trem problem, but I'll be sure to check the two locking nut screws for sure...

I love them too! Both this guitar and my J-Custom RG8327 BBK 7 string just have sick fretwork and are killer instruments...

Pics and review of both my 7 and new 6 string J-Customs coming this weekend, bro! Can't promise hardwood flooring though - guitars photograph better in the room with the carpet!

Oh btw - I'm an idiot! The Floyd nut screws weren't tightened! The whole system stays in tune perfectly now... Thanks for all the suggestions... I actually like the edge zero. The way the bar attaches is very clever...
