My recording setup is pretty sad. I have a Canon pocket video camera and I bought a converter cable that allows me to plug a SM57 into the camera. I just use the mic input auto-level for the camera to control the mic input. I have the SM57 pointed at the edge of the speaker cone about an inch away from the grill cloth.

The cabinet is a 1994 Mesa 2-12 loaded with EVM12 speakers.
