Can't wait to get it, and start wiring it up, the modifying it to get the sound I am after!! I spent a good bit of time deciding where to order a kit from, and Trinity seems top notch so far!! Nice chassis, detailed instructions, high end parts including Heyboer transformers, and tech support.

There are four versions of the 18 watt amp http://www.trinityamps.com/Trin18Over.htm
I went for the plexi, and I am planning to mod it a bit to get a mid to high gain raw, ballsy sound. I also got the V6 option which allows me to switch between EL84, and 6V6 power tubes. I am going to add a tube/ss rectifier switch, and I might wire up another switch to allow the two channels to be cascaded. I also have a power scaling kit I am going to install to get power tube distortion at lower volumes.

Should be a fun project

Nice dude....always cool when someone takes their sound into their own hands instead of depending on a stock amp/pedals. Throw up a clip when you get it done, I'd love to hear it.

I am thinking about documenting the build in a blog or something. I studied electronics engineering at school, but we learned nothing about tubes. I will be quitting my job and moving as soon as my house sells, and I am planning on taking a few months off once I get settled in my new place. I have always had a love for tube amps, and always dreamed about designing, and building my own. I figure if this works out I might try to make a 50 watt amp with some of my tweaks in it, and maybe start selling them as an extra source of income part time.

Dude....let me know. Just offed my last amp as it was just overkill for home playing....you start doing this at a reasonable price with some tweaks I'd be interested in a low watt version.

I will be adding power scaling to it, and if I decide to make, and sell amps I think a 50 watt platform with powerscaling, or a secondary very low watt power amp similar to the baron snott watt etc. there are way too many tube amps that just sound neutered at practice volumes.

These concepts are not reinventing the wheel or anything, but I just have a sound that I want, and I have come close to it wih a couple of amps, but nothing reasonably priced, and with power scaling or low watt options. 20 tube watts is still very loud!!!

I built a trinity sIII like 8 yrs ago and I still have it and never had a problem with it. I chose the 1x12 combo format and I got the cab from trinity also.I put a boost switch on it that adds a little extra gain. Originally I had all nos glass in it and it sounded fantastic. They have a forum too along with provided paperwork for tweaks along with instructions and different layouts.
It would be cool if u do a thread here on your builds progress.

Sounds like a good time. I have been tempted to do the 18 watt mod to my Valve Jr.
