Just recorded a Peavey 6505+ for the first time.

I've always maintained that both the 5150 & 6505 are perhaps THE most quintessential rock/metal amps of all time. For their price they are an absolute steal. I would take either of those two amps over a MESA Rec every day of the week.

Nice video M. Lugo !
I've been in LOVE with the Peavey 5150 since your first Amp Fest in 2009
I'm a metal music fan and mostly 90% of the bands I listen to are using or used a peavey 5150 on at least one of their albums
By the way, I know Peavey modelled the amp after a Soldano SLO
I've never tried a Soldano myself but I wonder if the Soldano can sound as aggressive and mid-heavy as the Peavey in a recording studio ?

Send that amp to Jerry at FJA. You'll still have that basic sound but it will be a lot less mushy. It will come back tighter, clearer and punchier. More pleasent sounding. At least IMHO.

Cool but that same basic tone and feel can be made better. If down the road you tire of it give my recommendation a thought.

James what is your main cab and speakers these days? v30/M75 mix bogner cab? You always get great tones no matter the amp. Did you end up with a fave mic as well? 421/57, just 57? the masses would love to know!

I have a couple of Mesa cabs with V30s a Post City OS 2x12 with V30 and an Avatar 4x12 with GB. Always 421/57 into Neves.

a lot of people think that money & tone have something to do with each other.... They don't. I rather use a 5150 than a lot of amps.

All this Peavey 6505 talk makes me think of this video:

This kid should get a royalty check from Peavey!
