Just scored a revision blue. I haven't played one for about a year, but since then I always wanted one. Do you own one, and if so, what can I look forward to? Any tips besides what's in the manual like tubes, tweaks, etc...?

i am kind of surprised no one has posted myself ? Must be all the Twin Jet stuff that has them distracted ....

I don't know what to add other than it's a wonderful amp. That's all you can look forward to really.

Man I know the Twinjet is a bad-ass amp. I have a Shiva 20th with KT88's and think it's the ultimate, BUT there's something about EL34 amps that just sound damn great. Man I can't wait to get my Uber damn it!

cut the cap on the input jack section. This is a trick that Mark Cameron told me to do to my uber and it made the amp more open and marshally but it still sounded heavy as balls, i love ubers they are so thick! but to me they only do THAT sound.

what cap? cap or resistor?
the cap going to the ground?
do you know its value?

I'd replace the first stage cathode capacitor to boost the upper mids and cut the excessive bass
the eq section has an extra bass cap that could be taken out too
lowering the second stage coupling cap can make it sound much more refined too

A friend of mine just picked up a Shiva 20th with KT88's and loves it. I need to go check it out.

I have one of those. It's amazing. I still like my standard Shiva just as much but the Shiva 20th is really cool. Hardly any amps on the market can go from incredible cleans to brutal sounding thrash and still maintain the class that the Shiva 20th does. Cooooooool amp!

My friend has both also .... I like all the Bogner stuff myself.

The Uber is a workhorse, a one-trick pony, no frills, no excess, just massive balls in a box amp. I have been running the Uber alongside many different amps in my arsenal for several years. It provides the base tone and fill for my heavier stuff. It is always on channel 2, never changes channels, never needs to activate any loop but just sits there cranking out deep frequency grind while my other amps do the articulation and top end. It has been dropped, kicked around, consumed a couple beers, plugged into the wrong power source, rarely gets a tube change, sounds the same no matter which ones you put in it. I have my settings painted on the faceplate cause they never change. It is the one thing in my rig that has never changed.

Cool. What revision do you have? When I played the revision blues before, I was actually surprised that it could be used for more than one sound; quite a contrast to being a "one-trick pony." Maybe you have an earlier revision?

I can't say I was uber impressed with the cleans but they were pretty decent. The gain was more useable than the old revision I played before that so I imagine that it does more than just grind and searing leads. Don't know for sure though because I only played high-gain stuff with it. I guess I'll find out soon enough!

Yeah though, I think my Uber is going to be a metal grinding machine and ultra saturated lead tone at best.

Its a 2006 model, which is the latest revision (before the birth of the Twin). I am just saying for my personal use, it is my one-trick pony. Its not an amp filled with lots of frills and flash though. I don't think it would be a stand alone amp for me at all.

Man I heard some clips of a dude playing the Uber with an OD9 in front and it sounded pretty damned good. I'd like to hear what the clean channel sounds like pushed with a pedal.

I think it can definitly be way more than a one trick pony.

I run my Rev Blue with a Maxon 0D808 and a G Major in the loop.
I use a Rocktron Midi Mate to handle the switching via the G Major.

I've got three tones set up (for now)

Rhythm (basically dry with just some EQ and noise gate)
Lead( Delay, Reverb, EQ boosting mids, volume boost, and noise gate)
Clean (just some nice reverb action)

LOVE IT!

Damn! It arrived early today. What a fantastic damned amplifier! I know the new Twin Jet is badass but this thing is amazing. It's like a pissed off Shiva or something. Wow! The presence control is awesome. It's like automatically scooped metal without the presence, then with it up it's midrange growl.

This amp is so easy to play. It responds to every damned pick attack. Legato rolls off my fingers effortlessly. I've heard it's a loose amp; however, I have to disagree. It's tight but so damned responsive it feels like a loose amp. Really kind of a unique quality to it.

Oh my God does it have some of the most incredible gain sounds, but I'm afraid to play it too much because it's so easy to play. I'm afraid my technique will get sloppy practicing on it. I used my Mesa Mark V for practice for like 1 month and my technique started to suffer because I was practicing with more gain. I usually practice with very little gain and play live with all the gain I need. Man those EL34's sound incredible.

Now I will say the cleans aren't impressive. They're not bad, but I would prefer the cleans on a Splawn Quickrod. The clean channel does respond well with pedals, but the volume difference really sucks about this amp. Even with the volume maxed on the clean channel, it doesn't seem as loud as a 120w amp. Fortunately, using my OD in front as a boost does boost the volume up substantially. Even so, it's not nearly as loud as the clean channel on my Shiva.

Holy shit! What a badass amp and sounds excellent through my 2x12 with Vintage 30's.

They are definitely a bad ass amp and built like a brick shit house! I run my Uber really scooped and control the top end with the presence. The amp really responds to the presence control and not in a shrill manner, either. I didn't like the cloth grill on mine so I ordered a metal grill head shell (Rob at TM's got it for me) and now it is bad to the bone. Enjoy......
