Karl Sanders is selling one his doubleneck V's

Doublenecks are ultra niche to begin with, this one is so specifically made for what Karl wanted that I suspect he may have trouble selling it.

It's cool but I have zero interest in it. I would guess it's not going to go for big bucks but cool nonetheless

2500 isn't that bad for a 1 of custom. No idea who the guy is though.

I think that's just the first bid. He's expecting more I'm sure

Dang, those are some deep scallops! Compare those scallops to the Yngwie Strat's scallops! They look like valleys compared to Yngwie's Strat!

I have a question that in all my years, I don't think it's ever been specified, but does anyone know if there is a theory to how deep scallops are supposed to be?

As in, if you touched the fret all the way down to the fretboard, is it supposed to be exactly a half step (or full step) up from the fretted note? Or are scallops carved out in a more of a random sort of approach?

Just like our frets are supposed to represent a half step for each fret (except for those true-tuning types of fretboards, or fan frets), do they measure out how deep to cut the channel so that it touching the string to the board will get you a half or whole step higher than fretted? If there is a specific measurement (based on the string gauge that comes stock), that's really cool.

If there isn't an approach to how deep to carve each scallop, how cool would that be if each fretted note was the "normal note", like of you fretted the fifth fret on the low E string and sounded an "A" note, but then pushed the string down all the way and it was a perfectly in-tune B note?

I had no idea who this guy was till I clicked on the thread and figured out he's from the band Nile. It's like pagan Egyptian type influenced death metal. I have a lot of friends into this band and it does look like they have a decent cult following.

Here is his gear rundown:

Personally I have tremendous respect for Mr. Sanders.

Numerous garbage guitars acquired only because of an endorsement deal? Check.

I clicked on the link expecting a bunch of Korean/Indonesian guitars but it turns out they are basically all USA CS stuff. I guess these shapes are an acquired taste though haha.

Also I think that laptop is for playing samples than processing guitars.

Your quote is making it look like I said that which I didn't . I want to clarify I was just requoteing someone else from the online blog about Mr. Sanders gear.

In fact I will delete my post so it does not look like I am a hater since Nile does rock.

It is. I've seen them a few times. The music is very Morbid Angel esque, but with Egyptian themes. Every song (almost) starts with some wind sound, a mantra type chant, and some Egyptian style wind instrument music. Karl is the main driving force behind the band, but he has found and worked with some of the fastest drummers, which for me was always the coolest thing about the band. He seems like a nice guy and appreciative in all the interviews that I've seen.

I now a couple of guys who've worked w/them on various levels, and they've always said he was a super nice guy and really down to earth.

Nile is awesome...I don't think we have a lot of technical death metal guys on this board, but they are a pretty legendary band. Cool guitar!

Saw Nile open for King Diamond about 8 years ago. They were too loud to discearn most of the riff-age but I was impressed with Mr Sanders and what he brought to the mix. I stood right In Front of him most the night and watched him closely. The laptop that's mentioned here is an important part of their show. He cued up moods and background sounds at the beginning, during, and at the end of nearly every song. It actually made the show extra creepy in their 'Eqyptian' way. I thought that it was really cool that he was doing all of this himself instead of having a hired guy to cue in the sounds.
KD blew their shit out of the water, but I did walk away with a new found respect. Oh, and a very young Mastadon and Black Dahlia opened for Nile. It was an amazing show.

Karl is awesome. Very nice guy and their music is great. Nile has been at it for a long time now and they are one of the most consistent bands out there.

At 54, Karl still seems like a fun guy, not jaded. He sounds like a big kid in interviews :2thumbsup:
