Karnivore vs V30

You can tell all the clips were dialed in for the Karnivore, and then they just switch over. When dialing in to a V30 you're gonna want less mids and probably less presence, but ya my ears tend to prefer the V30's as well. Lot of V30 hate these days.
I can see that being thing, but I can say that I 100% did not do this. I kept my amp settings where they've been for the past couple of years. They don't change much, maybe a little more or less mids if I'm at practice and can't hear something quite right that day, but that's usually more something that happens in that moment, and they usually get changed back to my usual spot when I get home. I didn't do any dialing after installing the speakers.

Like I said, hyped flavor of the month. just like, HESU - Veteran 30 - DV77 etc. makes sense that Eminence is pushing something new, now that the Orange bass cabs come stock with chinese celestions and not the classic drivers.

I think it's a bit bigger than that. The anticipation and sustained hype has been more than what those other speaker's experienced. Both Engl and Driftwood are now offering 412s loaded with Karnivore's as well.

I think it's an instant classic for anyone playing any genre with gain. I think it'll be around awhile.

Yeah, would be interesting if the mids would be dialed for the V30 while a recto rev G would be used for example. Then switch over to the carnivore. I doubt the V30 has too much mids with a recto rev G.
I hear the more g12-T75 high end on the karnivore too.

Maybe a slightly more direct comparison? I only have 1 trad straight and 1 trad slant...so I can't really do straight to straight or slant to slant, and I've got the slant listed for sale...but honestly wouldn't be upset if it didn't sell. Both cabs sound really great! Settings are the same, start with the V30s this time. Amp was loud enough to clip the Rhode mic plugged into my phone, though YT compression seems to have fixed that. Advanced apologies for the mediocre playing on this one. I got snipped 3 days ago and have been recovering lolol.

And yes, I play Warhammer and MTG with a group of friends lol.

Well if it makes you feel better I can't play that good with my nuts in tact! I like both for different reasons but definitely have to try the Karnivores at some point. The volume difference will probably skew some people's opinions in this clip. Thanks for making these comparisons for us!

haha appreciate that. Yeah, there's a slight volume difference and frequency shift between them. Not sure what the the Karnivores are rated at vs the V30s.

Honestly, listening back to this, they both sound good to me. Slight preference on the Karnivores for me because they don't have that high end frequency that I don't like about the V30. Maybe slightly darker, a little more low end. But they're not as different as some other speakers.

I just relistened through better speakers and equaliized the volume and the Karnivore is better for me in every way. Its like I can hear the string separation better. Low end is more controlled, no grating mid spike. Even your cat said fuck this shit, Im out, them Karnivores sound hungry! 🤣🤣🤣

I like them both, the Karnivores on the low end chuggs sound sick but I'm worried it would lose detail in a live mix.

haha I agree about the Karnivores. I like them better in every way, but the differences, while noticeable, aren't extremely pronounced.

I haven't had any issues getting lost during band practice. We don't have any shows scheduled until January, so won't be able to report on that until then...but I will make sure my wife gets some video.

This is probably my favorite thing about it. V30’s are so close to an ideal high gain speaker that straying far from them is just going to get you in weird territory.

The best thing about the Karnivore, unlike most other previously claimed V30 killers, is that it actually does sound pretty much like a slightly improved V30, with wider better mids and the obnoxious high spike smoothed out, which is the only wart the V30 really has.

I hope so, every time I like a deep sound it winds up getting lost. Appreciate the vids

How much are these selling for in the US? I recently got an email from a Cdn distributor letting me know that they are now available for purchase for $270 CAD ($192 USD)

Yikes. They're $164.99 at Sweetwater. I don't think any other retailers have them yet.
