I can't find enough positive demos to persuade me into pulling the trigger on the Katana. Is it as good as the GSP, tonally?? I know what to expect with the Digitech, am I missing the boat with the Katana? Of course, I'm after high gain tones. Love the 5150 on the Digitech!

I'd run both into a 4x12. The Digitech in stereo, of course.

Never played one but run a GSP into a Friedman powered speaker. Love it!

what do you mean by positive demos? there are plenty out there that sound great so if you don't like any of them then probably don't buy a KAT....I own one and it Kills

There's lots of demos, just nothing that wowed me..

I've got a Katana too and just love it also. The price is a bonus!! I had a GSP but it's been so long ago I can't really give a fair opinion on it.

Pretty different animals.
Katana is great for grab and go. Throw it on any cabinet and you are in business. Limited options though when not connected to the software. Even then its not as versatile.
I've never run the GSP into a power amp. I have only played around with its internal amp models while in 4CM with a head. Way more to choose from and more flexibility with the effects, plus the expression pedal if you have the Control 2.
I would probably go GSP, but it is a bigger investment.

What are the price differences between the two? That might help you make up your mind.

Couple hundred, all said and done.

Katana wasn't a keeper for me. Sounded solid, especially for the price but my needs for it were fairly specific and it failed miserably. Basically the direct tones. Lots of gigs where I HAVE to run direct. Even with the update they did while I had it, it still sounded terrible direct. Tried the AMT Pangea with it but at that point, it was about as much invested as a used Amplifire 3.

I'm just looking to plug and play, no recording, no direct, and I probably won't even fart around with deep editing on the PC.

Every time I play my Katana it verified to me that it sounds great easily dial in a very acceptable tone and it cost peanuts.
I then tell myself that it's missing something so I buy a tube amp. I play said tube amp. It sounds great. Better well ya. Then I plug back into the Katana, it just sounds good. So I sell said tube amp and just have fun playing a amp that allows me to have fun and stops my incessant tweaking when I get a tube amp, which keeps me from actually playing

The GSP1101 is now $449 (it was $499 2 weeks ago) and the Boss Katana head is $349.
I'd go with the GSP1101 since it is discontinued and there's only a few units left.

I was lucky I got the GSP1101 new in box for $474 CAD ($375USD) from Amazon.ca.
