Love that tone he gets on Coast to Coast and Sign of the times. I know he gets ragged on but he had great tone and chops.

I think that Kee has amazing chops but his tone never did it for me until later on.
Anyone who rags on him is just not in the know IMHO. He damn near sounds like Eric Johnson on some of his newer stuff. Kee is definitely up there in my top players list.

I only heard him play on 2 Europe albums. His tone fit Europe, his playing was always great. It sounded like he was running some sort of rack as i thought i could nail his tone with the ADA rig i had at the time. Sounded like he always had some stereo chorus on.

Europe had damn good guitarplayers! Speaking of Marcello, I'll record a cover of his solo on "Superstitious" as soon as I'm able to squeeze some time off from this spring's last exams at the University...

Wow! That was an oddity video.

Kitty Hawk.... cool wonder if ya can get one cheap used?

They had a very bad reputation for being Very Unreliable and going up in flames, literally....

I will also plus one everything that Ralphie said, I loves me some Kee!!!

Coast To Coast has My favorite tone, it's a combination of a Larrivee with the neck pickup, and tone knob turned down, and something like a wha wha at set around half way, and a modified Marshall with i think a treble booster.

I bought a Larrivee, Marshall and wha pedal etc. to get that tone, and ended up with Kee playing on one of my songs, https://www.myspace.com/usoband

You can hear some of his samples at our other site, https://www.myspace.com/betterworldpsa including Coast To Coast.

Best,

Greg

Im pretty sure i read once that Kee used a Tommy Folkesson modded Marshall JMP back in the Europe days.. on which Europe CD's i dont know for sure, maybe the later ones he played on.

I saw a bootleg of Europe with Kee on guitar, it was somewhere later in his time with the band and his live tone had this massive modded Marshall type of sound.. so im guessing it was the Folkesson i was hearing!

I loved the solo's on that Europe album. But damm those songs were hard to sit through with all the OOH's and AH'S, and OH YEAH'S. :D

For some reason Kitty Hawk gear is tough to come by, it seems. Every time I see something it's spendy. Neat stuff, but I bet you can get all the same tones from lots of modern gear.

That's correct. He used a 1980 JMP 2203 which was modded by Tommy. I have a copy of that amp. It's the fourth of four ever build. It's an incredible amp although I have to say that I am still not sure which exact setting he used on the amp. But however it sounds great in any setting.
