Robert sent me a few of his "newer" pedals the other day and have been messing around with them a bit. Figured I'd post some thoughts on them if anyone is looking into getting any of these.

Aria - This pedal is amazing! Great overdrive on one side and compressor on the other. For some reason, out of all the pedals I own of his, I didn't have a compressor yet!! Has a great "blend" knob so you can dial in more overdrive or more compressor, or just have it stay in the middle. I was using a plexi preset in my Axe-Fx II with a bit of hair on it, and was getting some great Blackmore tones with this thing. Probably my favorite of the three he sent. I have his "D&M" pedal and that is my favorite. I'm curious to hear them side by side.

El Rey Dorado - I have wanted this one for awhile. Like a plexi in a box. Has more gain than I expected with one of the switches flipped. Does great crunchy chords and for only having three knobs, you can really adjust the right amount of punch, etc. Robert says this is based on his own JTM 45 and definitely has that Marshall vibe.

Filaments - This is his high gain pedal and the one I'm going to have to spend more time on because there are so many switches, knobs, etc. LOL. This definitely is a hard rock/metal pedal. Really convenient with so many options because you can adjust each thing until your heart is content to find what you need. I'm struggling with this one more than the others because I need to tweak and find out what works with my setup. I plan on getting a small tube amp soon rather than going thru the Axe-Fx II and should sound even better.

Anyway, just a quick review. I need to spend more time with these and as mentioned, need to give them their due and run them into an actual tube amp. I'm really digging the new pedals he has come out with over the past year or so. They are sounding more defined and have alot more adjustments for single coils versus humbuckers and seems to have alot more usability across the board as you adjust the knobs. Great pedals!!

El Rey Dorado is absolutely killer.

Yeah man! It has some nice grit to it. I just love messing with the Level and Gain to find different tones. :)
